Sulfur smell coming from your water can be one of the worse. Could be your well water or could be your water heater. Anode rods can go bad over time and need to be replaced to protect the lining of water heaters as well as attack bad odors within the water heater. I replaced 2 anodes this week after homeowners determined the well water tested negative for sulfur and clearly coming from the the water heater. A yearly or 6 month flush can help the longevity of your water heater as well. Reach out for an assessment if you are having smelly water!

Customer wanted to update from outdated tub/shower to a walk-in shower. Something low maintenance, secure grab bars, and a shower door without the hassles of a shower curtain. Flooring company to install new bathroom flooring in the near future.

From an outdated leaking water heater with limited access to the pressure tank, to a high efficiency tankless gas water heater. The install gave more space for the customer and easier access to his water system coming into the house.

This new house is ready for a concrete pour for the basement. A sewage basin up flow system for a full bath and utility room in the basement. When the main drain elevation is higher than the plumbing pipe that is needed, you have to go with an up flow system. Piping will be added later to completely install the pump, drain, and venting. This is a backwater valve that is required by code when your lowest fixture in the home is lower than the next most upstream manhole cover outside. Reason being, is if there is a main sewer backup outside, your lowest fixture in the home would be the weakest point for sewage to enter the home from the street and come out of the fixture. It’s required by code and must be determined by licensed plumbers if a home is required to have one or not. This was installed in a basement for a new full bathroom and laundry addition as the new bathroom and laundry is lower than the next manhole outside. They can be installed inside or outside and in this particular situation, inside was the best option. Once concrete is poured, the access will be flush with the concrete for accessibility and maintenance.

I’ve had the privilege to install the plumbing on this old Cabin in the Selu Conservancy. A 380-acre tract of land along the Little River just minutes from the Radford University campus. The original cabin still stands and the new addition will attach with full size kitchen, living room, bedroom, and full size bath. The land had previously been used by Indigenous peoples, including the Cherokee, for hunting and gathering and believed they were the original “owners” of the territory. Selu now serves as an outdoor classroom and research site for Radford University students in biology, geology, Appalachian studies, anthropology, and other studies.

With the cold temperatures we have been having, be sure to have a plan to keep your water pipes from freezing! Some simple ways is to leave a faucet dripping, open cabinet doors to allow some heat in there, and if you have wired lights in the crawlspace turn them on if it is safe to do so. Water lines installed in exterior walls of the home and crawl spaces are the most vulnerable. Also make sure water hoses are disconnected from your outside spickots! If you have a rental or vacation home that needs to be winterized, don’t hesitate to reach out to get that taken care of.

Tankless install on a new construction from last year. This house is on a well and septic system with some rough water so I installed a UV light coming in, whole house filter, as well as a neutralizer for the condensate line. Condensing tankless heaters extract extra heat from exhaust gases. When those gases cool, water v***r condenses and mixes with combustion byproducts, forming a weak acid. Almost similar to vinegar! It’s good to have a neutralizer so it doesn’t kill off the good bacteria in septic tanks as it is discharged through a floor drain. Bonus for this homeowner is a dedicated hot water recirculation loop so they get hot water almost instant at their farthest bathroom away from the tankless heater👍.

Another new construction plumbing rough-in and inspection passed ✅ This is on a duplex within walking distance from VT. Always recommend that all rough-in work be completed by properly licensed trades!

While builders coordinate the projects and do the behind the scenes, specialized rough-ins require trained professionals in their field to meet code, pass inspections, and ensure safety. Doing it right the first time saves time, money, and headaches down the road.

New installed Navien tankless water heater that is replacing a 12 yr old Rinnai unit. The Rinnai unit had so many issues that the repairs was adding up and it was time to upgrade for this homeowner. The Navien unit has a built in recirculating pump, buffer tank, and intelligent heating mode that learns your hot water usage (mostly showers) and starts heating water in the buffer tank 30 minutes before it’s needed.
