Super late posting, but two ghost hunts in the same month...practically back to back!? On April 10th, we returned to Poasttown Elementary and brought some newbies with us! I think this has become our place to go since it is so close and super active.
🔍Investigation
We began our night giving a tour to all our new people. They had never been there or even investigated at all before, so that was fun! Some of Darrell's jump scares got them for sure!
After our tour we headed to the principal's office hoping to recreate an experience we had at a recent public. As we said the pledge of allegiance, the music box consistently went off as if someone was pacing in front of it. It stopped once we were done. Unfortunately we could not get this to happen again.
Since it was pretty quiet there, we decided to go to the dry goods room. Now this room is supposed to be notoriously active, but we just haven't had any luck...until that night. We had some very interesting responses during our estes session. One of which was when a team member had left the room and as soon as she was about to come back, the person under estes said "back in". The music box would not stop going off in the door way the whole time either.
During our last private we may have gotten a bit silly and put on a talent show in the gym. We felt like some of the estes responses were also referring to that, so guess what we did again? Yep, another talent show! Hopefully the spirits liked it and had a little fun.
After that we regrouped in the cafeteria. We've had lots of luck with the bell in this area before, but things seemed pretty quiet down there.
Up in the doll room got a bit silly too. We split up between the two sides of the room and ended up finding a wind up car to shoot from side to side. We think a cat ball lit up during this, but didn't get much else there.
We then set up in Sarah's hall where we usually get a lot of activity with the emf rope. Unfortunately we did not get much of that, but we were hearing a lot of knocks and footsteps at both ends of the hallway. One of our team members got up to check out some of the noises and thought he might have heard a voice when no one was talking. The portal was running, but upon video review it was also quiet at this time. We did get some fairly clear words from the portal though, which was super cool.
After a bit we decided to leave some equipment in the hall and move into the mean teacher's room. I started horsing around with a ball and the static dome went off in the corner by the call button. Again this room was fairly quiet though.
When we got to the nurse's office is when things got a little crazy. We walked in and were getting ready to set up when a bat comes out of nowhere and starts flying around. Finally it flies out and disappears. This is the second time this has happened to our group!
Not much else happened in the nurse's office so we headed back to the cafeteria, but things were quiet there once again.
Back to the dry goods room we went since that's where we got the most activity so far. We did another estes session and got some more seemingly intelligent responses. A spirit even made fun of someone for not knowing how to tie his shoes. That was pretty funny!
After that, it was getting late so we decided to wrap things up and leave. All in all it was an interesting night even though it was actually a pretty quiet night compared to our other experiences.
📚History
Before the school was built there were multiple devastating train crashes in the area. At the time, there was no hospital so the land the building stands on today was used as a triage center. After that and a major flood in 1913, the Middletown Regional Hospital was set to open.
The school was open from 1937 to 2000. It was built to replace the old one room school house that had long served the community. We can only imagine how many students and staff passed through those halls.
During that time though, there unfortunately was a little girl who fell down the stairwell. She did not die at the school, but did a couple days later at her home. This was thought to be urban legend for the longest time, but they have since found the girl's obituary. Out of respect they have not released her real name, but she is often referred to as Sarah.

We appreciate Darrell and Brenda for allowing us to investigate such a great location! If you haven't been you should check it out!
