Another Jon boat left for a skidder to crunch.
It’s hard to catch everything. We tell owners to protect shooting houses, get up climbing stands, feeders, etc. before a logging operation starts.
I missed this one on pre-sale walk through as it was hidden in brush. Don’t count on the cutter or skidder man to secure personal property especially in thick stands.
At least it is not as bad as knocking out a guy line from a railroad communication tower. I flagged the wire and painted it orange where the blind could see. Guess my efforts created a dozer blade magnet. If I had left it there would have been no damage. That’s logging and it happens!

Deer season is over. Most put their rifles up but we never stop training. Curing setup issues. Eye relief, breathing, cheek weld, trigger squeeze and follow through on the shot. Best done through dry firing with a coin on the turrets to detect flinching or too much cant pressure on support hand.
Observing eye blink on dry fire and knowing that is a flinch. Seeking perfection for that special shot when it counts.

The push and pull of timber marketing economics is always changing in an attempt to reach a point of supply/demand equilibrium which also changes almost instantly.

Timber owners in the ice and wind storm areas will be facing little chance of a salvage operation to recover value.

Pulpwood prices in many areas are at record lows before the event and reduced demand and closed first processing points will cause major problems.

Forest investments include both financial and biological risks. Acts of God, wildfires, insect attacks all represent the biological risks that can devastate a forest investment.

Casualty losses may help if the owner had basis left in the merchantable and pre-merchantable accounts. Some owners were never counselled on the need to protect their investment by professionally establishing cost basis. Basis can be forensically estimated and supported back to the date of gift, inheritance or purchase.

If you suffered loss I can assist but you need to consult with your timber accountant who will tell you like I am telling you that record keeping is paramount.

Heads up prescribed burn managers!

2007 Artic Cat 500 with large tract burn tank. , winch, other accessories. Unit lives in Coffeeville right now.

Old style burn tank made in Atmore, Alabama. Best used when a lot of fire needs to be strung on larger burn blocks. Getting some work done but motor runs strong on 4 wheeler.

Haven’t developed a price yet but will soon once a few minor repairs are completed.
If you have an interest let me know and I will reach out once I develop a $$$ price.

Will also consider an “As Is” deal if that works best.
