The purpose of the Office of Emergency Management is to have an operating plan to protect life and property in emergencies by coordinating response activities of borough and volunteer entities to ensure their optimum use.

The Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been extended until 3:00 PM, and Clementon remains under a Flash Flood Warning until 3:45 PM.

Another round of storms appears to be approaching our area. With the heavy rain we have already received, additional rainfall could quickly worsen flooding conditions.

If you do not need to be outside or on the roads, please stay put and avoid venturing out during the storms.

⚡ Remain indoors and away from windows during thunderstorms.
🚧 Be alert for flooded or impassable roadways.

Clementon is currently under multiple weather warnings as a strong thunderstorm impacts our area.

•Severe Thunderstorm Warning — extended until 2:00 PM
•Flash Flood Warning — in effect until 3:45 PM

Heavy rainfall is occurring and may lead to rapid flooding of roadways and low-lying areas.

🏠 Remain indoors and away from windows while the severe thunderstorm passes.

The National Weather Service has upgraded the previously issued Severe Thunderstorm Watch to a Tornado Watch for Camden County. At the same time, a Flood Watch remains in effect through Wednesday afternoon.

🌪️ Tornado Watch • Now until 10:00 PM tonight
Conditions are favorable for the development of tornadoes, along with damaging wind gusts, large hail, and heavy rainfall. A Tornado Watch means be prepared and stay alert for rapidly changing weather.

🌊 Flood Watch • Through Wednesday afternoon
Heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected to move through the area this afternoon, tonight, and into Wednesday. Rainfall rates of 1–3 inches per hour are possible, with storm totals of 1–3 inches and locally higher amounts.

Flooding may develop quickly in:
•Roadways
•Poor drainage areas
•Low-lying locations
•Creeks and streams

What you should do:
✅ Stay weather aware and keep multiple ways to receive warnings.
✅ Charge your electronic devices now.
✅ Secure outdoor furniture and loose items.
✅ Never drive through flooded roadways — Turn Around, Don’t Drown.

Today has the potential to become an active weather day, especially between 4:00 PM and 9:00 PM. Now is the time to review your plans and stay weather aware.

The National Weather Service has placed our area under an Enhanced Risk (Level 3 of 5) for severe thunderstorms.

Today's threats include:
💨 Damaging straight-line winds (the primary concern)
🌪️ A few tornadoes are possible
🌧️ Heavy rainfall with the potential for flash flooding
⚡ Frequent cloud-to-ground lightning
🧊 Large hail

🌊 A Flood Watch is in effect from 6:00 AM Tuesday through 2:00 AM Wednesday. Heavy rain may lead to flash flooding, especially in low-lying areas, poor drainage locations, and roadways.

What you should do:
✅ Have multiple ways to receive weather warnings.
✅ Secure loose outdoor items before storms arrive.
✅ Charge your electronic devices.

The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for Camden County until 9:00 PM.

A Tornado Watch means conditions are favorable for severe thunderstorms capable of producing:
🌪️ Tornadoes
💨 Damaging wind gusts
🧊 Large hail
🌧️ Torrential downpours

Now is the time to make sure your phone is charged, weather alerts are turned on, and you know where you’ll go if a Tornado Warning is issued. A warning means a tornado is occurring or imminent and you should seek shelter immediately.

⏰ Don’t wait until the sky turns green or the sirens start. Stay weather aware this afternoon and evening, and keep an eye on trusted weather sources as conditions can change quickly.

The National Weather Service has placed our area under an Enhanced Risk (Level 3 of 5) for severe thunderstorms today, with multiple rounds of storms expected from late morning through this evening.

Hazards include:
💨 Damaging wind gusts (potentially 58+ mph)
🌪️ Tornadoes (including the possibility of a strong EF2 tornado)
🌧️ Heavy rainfall capable of producing 2-3 inches of rain in as little as 1-2 hours
🧊 Large hail
🌊 Flash flooding

🚨 A Flash Flood Watch is in effect from 10:00 AM through 2:00 AM tonight. Flooding may develop quickly, especially in:

* Low-lying and flood-prone areas
* Poor drainage locations
* Creeks and streams
* Roadways that commonly flood

What You Should Do Now:

Mother Nature apparently looked at the heat wave and said, “You know what this needs? Smoke.”

The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection has issued a Code Red Air Quality Alert for Thursday, July 16, affecting Camden County.

Smoke from Canadian wildfires is expected to move into our area tonight and may become more noticeable as the evening continues. You may see haze, smell smoke, or briefly wonder if your neighbor started a bonfire at the worst possible time.

The extreme heat will begin to ease, but it will still be warm tomorrow—and now we get unhealthy air quality as a bonus feature.

⚠️ Code Red means air pollution levels may be unhealthy for the general population. Everyone should avoid strenuous outdoor activity or exercise.

Please be especially careful if you:

💨 Have asthma or another breathing condition
❤️ Have heart or lung disease
👵 Are older or otherwise sensitive to poor air quality

Limit time outdoors, keep windows closed when possible, run your air conditioning on recirculate, and keep inhalers or prescribed medications nearby.

And before the calls start:

❌ Clementon is not on fire.
✅ The smoke is drifting into our region from Canadian wildfires.
☎️ But if you second guess or see fire, please call 9-1-1 immediately

Camden County is currently under both a Severe Thunderstorm Watch and a Flash Flood Warning.

⛈️ Conditions remain favorable for severe thunderstorms capable of producing:
🌬️ Damaging wind gusts
⚡ Frequent lightning
🌧️ Torrential rainfall
🌊 Flash flooding of roadways, low-lying areas, streams, and poor drainage locations
🌳 Downed trees and isolated power outages

The National Weather Service reports that 1–2 inches of rain has already fallen, with another 1–2 inches possible this evening. Flash flooding is ongoing or may develop rapidly.

Never drive through flooded roadways. It only takes a small amount of moving water to sweep a vehicle away, and most flood-related fatalities occur in vehicles.

🌧️ Well… that escalated quickly. 🌧️

We just received over 4 inches of rain in about an hour to an hour and a half, which is more than enough to overwhelm storm drains and cause flash flooding.

And we’re not done yet.

⛈️ Another round of showers and thunderstorms is possible this afternoon, so stay weather aware and keep an eye on the forecast.

Just a few days ago we were melting in 100° heat… now it feels like we should be getting the boats ready.

If you come across a flooded roadway:

🚗 TURN AROUND, DON’T DROWN.
It only takes a small amount of moving water to sweep a vehicle away, and most flood-related deaths occur in vehicles.

PSA: Mother Nature has decided to preheat New Jersey… and she forgot to turn the oven off.

This isn’t your average “it’s hot outside.”

An Extreme Heat Watch has been issued for Wednesday through Saturday, with heat index values that could reach 110°F.

Translation? Walking outside may feel like opening the oven to check on dinner… except you’re the dinner.

Here’s what we’re expecting:
🌡️ Tuesday: 91°
🌡️ Wednesday: 99°
🌡️ Thursday: 104°
🌡️ Friday: 104°
🌡️ Saturday: 97°

And here’s the kicker… overnight temperatures are only expected to drop into the mid-70s to low-80s, meaning many homes won’t get much relief before doing it all over again the next day.

✅ Drink plenty of water (yes, actual water… not just iced coffee).
✅ Limit strenuous outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day.
✅ Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing.
✅ Check on elderly neighbors, family members, and anyone without air conditioning.
✅ Never leave children or pets in a parked vehicle—even for “just a minute.” Vehicle temperatures become deadly in minutes.

The Borough of Clementon Cooling Center will be OPEN Tuesday, June 30 through Thursday, July 2, at Borough Hall (101 E. Gibbsboro Road).

Please note: Borough Hall will be closed Friday through Sunday for the Independence Day holiday and weekend. We’ll share information on nearby alternative cooling locations before then.

⚠️ This is expected to be a prolonged heat event, not just one hot afternoon. Now is the time to prepare.
