Time, distance and accuracy standards in the real world and why they matter (Part 2)
If you notice , this is not a range , this is a Freezer Isle of your local grocery store . Distance-21 yards end to end ,looks a lot further doesn’t it ? Imagine that same 5 inch target and if you want to say let’s include the outer rings and make the target,8 inches . That would be a virtually ineffective hit at this distance in the outer circle if too far left or right , the rounds need to go where they do the most damage anatomically. Does that Make Sense?
Next picture,Let’s get even more extreme, 6 isles , equates to 31 yards, talking Tbox at that distance is dripped in fantasy in more cases then not. Yes a bunch of people can make that shot but cold behind cover on a two way range, not likely for the larger majority of people.
Last picture, this is one of the longer unobstructed isles in the store , this being 40 yards , not an easy shot to keep good hits-plural- in upper chest with speed with rifles let alone pistols for most. Realistic difficulty with added stress of people, screams , the thought of ,if my rounds don’t end this, it could cost you your life and the life of others, that’s the real consequences/cost for getting involved in this idea that, I’m going to “save the day” . The range is a relatively sterile environment we set the rules but in the real world has variables that are constantly changing and you are the last to know about it.
You being armed doesn’t mean you can or even need to get involved. But if /when you do , these are very real distances you may have to use that gun that’s caked with lint that you haven’t shot in 7 months against a 🐱 armed with far more firepower and maybe more training , if you don’t know what to do keep your and your family safe first , and second , losing here means a body bag , argue all you want. This is why I shoot outside of 7 yards 25 , this is why a timer has relevance, this is why having a fi****ms but only random blasting constantly with no purpose. We all have fun but just think about it . Stay safe, stay realistic, stay honest keep firing
