I spoke with a merchant last week who was charging a 9% fee on all card transactions—debit and credit alike.

It was clear they weren’t familiar with the regulations around card processing fees. Unfortunately, they didn’t have a dedicated expert to guide them and had to rely on a national provider just to get basic answers.

Being in the payments industry for a little over a year now has brought to light a whole lot of craziness that I thought never existed.

For example, I run my business ethically and morally - don't lie to people and you will be fine.

Living in a small town here in Wisconsin is great, why would anyone lie to make a living, and then most likely sit near that same person you lied to at the local Supper Club on a Friday night?

Soooo many processing companies are out there to nickel and dime business owners every step of the way, and it has brought a bad name to the business. I have to fight through those barriers every time I talk with an owner, because they are used to getting hosed.

I won't, and can't do that. Our family is here, and we don't intend on moving away. We are so transparent with our pricing structures, have no outrageous fees, and we don't bully or scare owners into switching to my systems.

My job is to never convince a business owner to look at their financial statements and make a decision.

My job is to assist those that are willing to have the conversation, at the very least. It still amazes me how many business owners just say "they are good" without understanding what "good" really is.

Card processing is not just an expense on your business, it is drain on the pocket book of the owner. Something that can be easily managed or eliminated from the stress of running a storefront or an online company.

Just have to be willing to have some uncomfortable conversations, lol!

Our rates are SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper than what is normally used, and I guarantee you will do cart wheels with how much you will be eliminating off of your bottom line.

E-commerce is like the wild wild west, where the processors are VASTLY OVERCHARGING to run transactions.

It's crazy.

Crazy fact of the day -

The vast majority of processing fees a business pays to run a card for payment go to Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express AND the bank on the front of the card.

Only a small amount goes to the processor, or the people that do all of the work.

That means that credit card, AND debit card companies are making money off of the business owner, and the card holder at the same time.

Crazy.
