Leadby Supporting Leaders for a better future

Momentum comes from finished projects, not perfect plans. Choose one leadership habit to challenge this month and commit to the follow-through. By valuing lessons learned over flawless ex*****on, you create a culture where real progress and team confidence can finally thrive.

Every meeting is either training your team that their input is vital or that their silence is preferred. When you lead with a clear agenda, named expectations, and genuine safety, you stop managing and finally start collaborating.

The magic happens in the gaps between the talking points. If your voice is the only one filling the room, you’re missing the very insights you hired your team for. This week, audit the silence: is it a sign of agreement, or is your structure simply not built to listen?

Real trust isn't built on sharing every detail, but on being honest about your intentions. If you’re holding back to protect people, you might actually be feeding the exact uncertainty they fear most. Lead with the why and the trust will follow.
Send this to someone leading through a hard moment.

Alignment isn’t about adding another meeting, it’s about making your goals visible and your daily priorities intentional. Write the goals down so they’re real, then use your one-on-ones to ensure every task is actually moving the needle.

Two speakers today at ECHO26 that we will not stop thinking about.
Jason Robert’s of does not ask what could happen next year.
He asks his community partners, “How about Saturday?”
He breaks outdated rules. He keeps people moving without wearing them out. He stays the through line across every project until things actually change.
And of reminded the room that words are never neutral.
Artifacts or belongings?
That one word shift changes everything. It reflects a values system. And it led to real policy change around how the Museum of Us curates human remains and how they compensate the knowledge bearers who carry those ancestral stories.
Urgency. Language. Courage.
That was today.
What is one word in your organization that might be worth reconsidering?

Day 1 at ECHO26.
We started at Trinity River Audubon Center, a sanctuary built on land that was once an illegal dump site.
Same ground. Completely reimagined.
That is the kind of leadership thinking this conference is built around.
What in your world is ready to be reimagined?
Follow along this week as we share from inside ECHO26.

We made it to Dallas for ECHO26!

Not to sponsor from a distance. But to actually be in the room this year!

This week we will be sharing what we are hearing, learning, and sitting with from one of the most thoughtful leadership gatherings in the conservation space.

Follow along. It is going to be a good week.

Motivation comes from knowing your work actually matters, not from a poster. This week, use your mission as a filter to see which projects move the needle and which are just filling the calendar.

How much of your team’s current work actually moves your mission forward? Accountability in the comments. ⬇️
