For most of my life, I thought I was just too sensitive.

It wasn’t until my ADHD diagnosis that I learned how common rejection sensitivity can be in neurodivergent brains.

What fascinates me is that this isn’t just about emotions. When we perceive rejection, our nervous system can respond as if we’re facing a threat. And when that happens over and over, it doesn’t just affect our mental health. It can affect our physical health too.

I’m still learning not to hand my peace over to other people’s opinions. Some days are easier than others.

And honestly? Not everyone is going to like me. Not everyone is going to choose me. That’s okay.

I’d rather be myself and be loved by the right people than spend my life trying to earn approval from everyone around me.

Have you experienced rejection sensitivity?

Most people spend hundreds trying to create a “healthy home” while unknowingly tracking contaminants across their floors every single day.

Studies have found shoe soles can carry E. coli, coliform bacteria, C. diff, MRSA, pesticides, lead dust, allergens, and fungal spores from outside surfaces straight into your home.

This matters even more if you have babies crawling around, allergies, asthma, MCAS, chronic illness, or you’re just trying to lower your overall toxic load.

It’s really so easy. Just take your nasty a$$ shoes off.

Honestly... once you think about where shoes have been, it’s pretty nasty to wear them around your house. It’s one of the simplest habits you can get into and it costs absolutely nothing!

There’s always more.

More laundry.
More dishes.
More cleaning.
More weeding.
More emails.
More errands.
More things you “need” to get done.

It never ends.

And I’ve always known that, but last night it really hit me while I was trying to hurry up and finish just one more thing before letting myself relax.

Because that’s the trap.

So many of us are living in this constant cycle of:
“I just need to do this first.”
“Okay, one more thing.”
“Then I’ll sit down.”

But there will always be more.

And if your body only feels safe once everything is done, your nervous system never actually gets a chance to calm down.

And if your nervous system never feels safe, you are never going to get your inflammation under control. Ever.

At some point, we have to stop acting like peace is something we earn after productivity.

Because the to-do list will never fully disappear.

There will always be more to clean.
More to answer.
More to fix.
More to get done.

And if we spend our whole lives waiting for everything to finally be finished before we let ourselves rest, be present, laugh, breathe, or enjoy our lives… we will miss our lives while trying to keep up with them.

Make it count ❤️

For 24 years, I was on antidepressants.

I tried getting off of them multiple times throughout my life and failed every single time.

By the time I finally got off, I had already done four years of therapy. Therapy helped me tremendously, and I’m incredibly grateful for it. But personally, there is 0% chance I could have successfully gotten off those medications without changing my health and what I was consuming every day.

The number one thing I changed?

Sugar.

Hands down.

Nobody can convince me that lowering my inflammation was not one of the biggest contributors to my brain finally starting to function differently.

When I eat heavily processed foods and a lot of sugar, I feel it. My anxiety is worse. My mood changes. I’m more reactive, more overwhelmed, more depressed, more easily triggered.

When I eat clean and focus on lowering inflammation, it feels like a dark cloud lifts.

This is not medical advice.
This is simply my personal experience.
