“My mom calls me constantly because she’s lonely.”

“I wish I could spend more time with Dad.”

“She has plenty of care, but nobody really has time to sit and talk.”

“We moved Mom into a beautiful community, but she’s still isolated.”

“My parents are fine physically. I’m worried about them socially.”

“I live out of state and feel guilty that I can’t call every day.”

“She lost my dad and just doesn’t have anybody to talk to anymore.”

These are all reasons Adult Children call Human Conversation Services and schedule recurring calls for their Loved One.

I’m grateful to partner with organizations that are committed to improving the lives of older adults and supporting the families who love them.

Thank you to Chloe Harris and Caring Hearts Agency for including Human Conversation Services in this month’s resource newsletter.

Partnerships like this matter because no one organization can solve loneliness alone.

Home care agencies, senior living communities, healthcare providers, and family support organizations all play different roles. Human Conversation Services fills one very specific gap by providing consistent, scheduled one-on-one conversations that give older adults something familiar to look forward to each week.

We are simply another trusted resource that helps older adults feel heard, connected, and supported.

If your organization serves older adults anywhere in the United States and is looking for another resource to support families,
let’s start the conversation.

Have you ever noticed a Senior gradually stop participating in the things they once enjoyed?

Maybe they no longer attend activities.

Maybe they stop calling friends.

Maybe they turn down invitations.

Maybe they spend more time alone than they used to.

It can be easy to assume they simply prefer to keep to themselves.

Sometimes that's true.

Sometimes it's a sign they're feeling disconnected, overwhelmed, grieving, or unsure how to reconnect.

Whether you're a family member, a friend, a caregiver, or someone who works with older adults, a simple conversation can make a bigger difference than you realize.

Sometimes the first step toward helping someone feel connected again is simply letting them know someone noticed.

Seven Signs a Community Resident may Benefit from Human Conversation Services

They're new to the community.
They recently lost a spouse.
They aren't interested in group activities.
They tend to stay in their apartment.
Family visits are infrequent or they live far away.
Staff notice they enjoy conversation but don't always have time to sit and visit.
They would benefit from another consistent, caring connection each week.

Who comes to mind?

Five Signs Your At Home Client may Benefit from Human Conversation Services

They spend most days alone.

They have fewer opportunities for meaningful social interaction.

They look forward to Caregiver visits because they're craving conversation.

Family lives far away.

Family wishes someone could check in between visits.

Have you heard of ArchWell?
I attended a resource fair at the St.Charles, Mo location yesterday and I was blown away!
It’s primary care for ages 60+ and they give you 45 minutes to an hour with the doctor! No rushing!
They have labs in-house and are focused on wellness. It was pristine too.
They are nationwide and take all the major insurances.
Check them out!

Last week, I had the privilege of getting to know Mabel.

She lives alone in a second-floor apartment. Her daughter and granddaughter live nearby, and while she gets to see them from time to time, she doesn't get out much these days, especially after dark.

During our first conversation, we talked about the joy her granddaughter brings her, the differences between America's Bicentennial and America 250, and her rediscovery of her love of singing (I'm so excited for her! She's even taking singing lessons!)

That's what these conversations are really about.

Not checking boxes.

Not asking the same questions every week.

Just giving someone the opportunity to talk about the things that matter to them with someone who genuinely enjoys listening.

Sometimes the best part of a person's week is simply knowing someone will call, remember what they shared last time, and be interested in hearing what happened next.

I'm already looking forward to our next conversation, Mabel.

Who do you know who could benefit from having this to look forward to each week?

Last week I had "Call One" with Bob K.
Bob is 85, lives at home but doesn't drive. His wife still works. His daughter lives in town but also works. Most of his friends are gone.
His wife says he loves to talk and tell stories but she's heard them all. She told me he loves sports so we started there.
I asked if he was watching the World's Cup and from there we talked about soccer, baseball, basketball (for which he had a college scholarship), college, camping, horseback riding, and how he met his wife!
Bob did 90% of the talking. I just asked strategic questions to keep the conversation moving. 45 minutes flew by for both of us.
At the end of the call I said "So Bob, chat with your wife and decide if this is something you want to do every week. It's totally up to you, whatever you decide is fine".
He responded immediately "I already know I want to continue! When is our next call, Kiddo?"
Now Bob has something to look forward to and feels heard!
This is why we do what we do!
(The Family Consultation and Call One are Complimentary so reach out if you know a "Bob"!)

One of the nicest things that can happen when you’re building a business is finding out that people are talking about it when you’re not even in the room.

Last Friday, I was at a networking event and ran into someone I know from the local senior care community. She told me that earlier in the week, during a discussion about solutions for elder loneliness, she was getting ready to recommend Human Conversation Services.

Before she could, another woman spoke up and recommended us first.

I wasn’t there. I didn’t know the conversation was happening. Yet these women were willing to share information about a service they believe could help older adults and their families.

There are days when I’m making phone calls, attending meetings, introducing myself over and over, and hoping my message is landing somewhere.

Then something like this happens, and I’m reminded that people are listening.

To the women who have encouraged, supported, and spoken positively about Human Conversation Services, thank you. Your kindness and willingness to lift up another woman-owned business means more than you know.

Sometimes a simple conversation can mean more than we realize.
