While enjoying the park with my kiddos a Yellowjacket queen found me and was foraging. This is marking spring is actually here. This seasons generation of new queens are starting to head out to forage and find a suitable place to create a nest to begin laying her eggs.
Nest are starting to be formed now. You likely won’t be able to notice a nest site until around May/June once there population starts getting close to the hundreds. Many won’t notice nest sites until later in year when nest population could be in the thousands.
Make sure to reach out at any point you start noticing heavy activity or yellow jackets flying into ground or a crack/crevice on buildings.

Setting some more up!!! Got to catch them all!
This was a good one that highlights rub marks from mice traveling along the sill plate in basements. Also was able to spot urine stains on framing around crawlspace entrance.
Those odd dirt marks may be indicating heavy rodent traffic. Yes, mice can run horizontally along walls as they are excellent climbers.

It’s the little things that matter. Also the correct little thing. Dryer vents can be a common point of entry that gets overlooked because people feel mice aren’t getting in those plastic multi piece dryer vents. Which by the way are weak, flemzy, and break easily. Mice very easily get into these locations.
Was able to stop a point of entry for this client by installing a real rodent proof dryer vent cover. Made from galvanized steel with a light magnet on it to keep it closed but still allow the air flow to push it open to allow the air to exit the vent. Once the dryer shuts off the door automatically shuts and magnetizes back to itself. This ensures rodents are not entering whenever they want.

We recently addressed a bird infestation at a client's property where sparrows had nested inside the attic gable vent. Our solution involved safely removing the birds and installing a protective gable vent guard to prevent future wildlife entry while maintaining adequate air flow.

Spring is here, and while we enjoy the blooming flowers and sunshine, it’s also time to prepare for some of nature’s more troublesome visitors. 🐝 Here are some tips to manage unwanted pests:

1. **Inspect Your Property:** Look for any nests or hives in your yard or property. Knowing where these are can help in managing them more effectively.

2. **Seal Entry Points:** Make sure to seal any cracks in your home’s exterior. This will help prevent pests from entering your space and making themselves at home.

3. **Use Natural Deterrents:** Essential oils such as peppermint and tea tree oil can deter many bugs naturally without harmful chemicals.

4. **Professional Help:** If you find a bee or wasp nest, it's often best to call a professional. They can remove them safely without harm to you or the insects.

5. **Keep Food Tightly Sealed:** Always make sure food is properly stored to avoid attracting pests to your home.

With a little preparation, you can enjoy your outdoor spaces without the worry of uninvited guests! 🌼
