Can I tell you something I hope you remember before you close out this week?

You do not have to carry everything to be an effective leader.

Read that again.

Because somewhere along the way, many leaders started believing:

Can I tell you what my stroke taught me?

In my early 30s, I was a VP for a Health System.

From the outside, it looked like success.

Leadership.
Responsibility.
Influence.
Momentum.

I was managing departments, leading at a high level, and doing what many people would call having it all together.

But behind the title, I had developed a dangerous habit.

๐—œ ๐˜€๐—ฎ๐—ถ๐—ฑ ๐˜†๐—ฒ๐˜€ ๐˜๐—ผ ๐—ฒ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐˜†๐˜๐—ต๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด.

โŒYes to meetings.
โŒYes to responsibilities.
โŒYes to helping.
โŒYes to fixing.
โŒYes to carrying more.

And somewhere in all that yes...I disappeared.

Then my body said what I would not.

Pause.

I had a stroke.

Looking back, the greatest lesson from that season was not about work. It was about me. Because I realized something I will never forget:
