My name is Ryan Strait CJF, and I am the face of Skunk Creek Ranch & Horseshoeing, LLC. A little about me!

-I studied under Dusty Franklin, CJF at Five Star Horseshoeing School in Minco, OK in 2012
-I successfully passed my American Farrier's Association (AFA) Certified Farrier (CF) in 2013
-I successfully passed my AFA Certified Journeyman Farrier certification (CJF) in 2016

As an equine professional, I am an absolute believer in continuing education. This can be accomplished through certifications, which are entirely voluntary in the United States, competing, and clinics.

-I have competed a significant amount, however due to life circumstances had to take a long hiatus.
-I attend clinics through the Kansas Farrier Association, Oklahoma Farrier Association, and American Farrier Association, as well as others, as frequently as my busy life allows. I inventory a variety of shoes and materials to meet all you and your horse's needs. If your horse needs therapeutic help, I can help there, as well, and am more than happy to join with vets to keep your horses sound.

There’s a huge amount of legitimacy to this statement. There’s times when feet aren’t so messed up that we can make them look great that first shoeing, but that balances out with the ones that are just going to need to be shod several times to really get around them well and have improvements come.

PSA, and it’s an uncomfortable one. If you hire a professional for a job, in this case shoeing your horses, and there reaches a point where you make a request that does not align with how the practitioner needs to run their business, and they explain why, there is a right and wrong way with which to proceed. That does not include making any sort of accusations or giving a very angry “f*ck you”. This will accomplish two things. Said practitioner will 1) absolutely be guaranteed to not wish to work with you in any fashion, and 2) warn any other practitioners in the area of the potential issues should they choose to provide services.
