A small bathroom leak can become a much bigger repair.

Water doesn’t always stay where you can see it. A leak beneath a sink can soak into the vanity, drywall, and flooring. By the time a musty smell appears, the moisture may have been there for a while.

If you’re a renter, report leaks and signs of water damage right away. Share photos, explain when you first noticed the problem, and let your landlord know if it gets worse.

If you’re a landlord, don’t leave a reported leak unattended. Find and fix the source, then check whether the surrounding materials need drying or removal. Repairing the leak is the first step; addressing the water damage matters too.

Can Exterior Sprinklers Cause Mold Inside a Building?

Exterior sprinklers are designed to maintain landscaping, but when they repeatedly spray water against a building, they can contribute to water intrusion, moisture damage, and mold growth.

Mold Fix Inc. recently addressed a community booth with visible mold and moisture damage. The source of the moisture was associated with exterior sprinklers repeatedly spraying water against the structure.

How Sprinkler Water Can Lead to Mold

When sprinkler water continually hits exterior walls, doors, windows, or other building components, moisture may eventually find its way into vulnerable areas. Once building materials remain damp for extended periods, conditions can become favorable for mold growth.

During this project, visible mold and moisture-damaged materials were identified inside the community booth. The affected areas required professional mold remediation and removal of damaged materials.
