Hello y’all, I am Reid O’Brien to learn a little more about me and why I started Dapper Living keep reading below-
I was born and raised on a ranch in Mathis, Texas. I am a proud ’12 Islander Alumni of Texas A&M University Corpus Christi earning a Bachelor of Arts in Communication. I am a reconciling United Methodist, and sustained by my Christian faith. I thrive most when creating, designing, entertaining, or exploring the art of cooking particularly recipes inspired by Mexican, Italian, or traditionally Southern cultures. I am a proud Gunkel to 3 nephews - Sean, Lane, and James.
Beginning my professional career in Mathis, Texas spending 6 years in the banking industry holding positions within both operations and lending. Deciding then to move to Dallas, Texas accepting an accounting role with a residential home builder. Soon after I settled and begun to feel established life had other plans and my health began to decline. Everything came to a complete halt for four years.
As I began to recover and adapt to being diagnosed with a chronic illness, I began to realize my life’s purpose was allowing myself and the creative within to help others thrive and be productive. In knowing that, I knew where to transplant myself from having lived many places from Corpus Christi to Dallas. My heart has always drawn me back home to the gulf coast in South Texas where I know I can come to calm my mind and still my heart.
But then I questioned, what would I do? I knew I had a passion for helping others, I loved the art of interior design, the magic of culinary creations and anything that was aesthetically pleasing to the eye. I also knew that nothing was pleasing unless my mind and the spaces I occupied were clutter free, organized, and unwelcoming of chaos. When I allow ‘life’s interjections’ to get in the way, those you know me well will agree, I begin to allow myself and the spaces I occupy to become complete chaos and disarray.
In those moments, I have trained myself to take a step back, give myself grace, sort through the clutter, calm the chaos, and create a system that easily adapts, readapts and interchanges with the ever-evolving seasons of life – and truly understanding that the idea of organizing is not a destination it is a process.
So, Here I am. This is me.
