Engineering the Union Pacific Centennial Locomotive 🚂⚜️
"A customer sent me a reference photo of the exact Union Pacific DDA40X Centennial locomotive his late grandfather, Richard, drove for decades. He asked if I could bring it to life—not just as a replica, but as a permanent keepsake."
This build pushed the boundaries of what Recycled Fresh 3D Prints LLC can do, combining precision digital infrastructure with hand-finished artistry:
• 📐 Reverse-engineered the entire locomotive chassis and body shell line-by-line using Fusion 360 and Blender.
• ⚙️ This is more than a display model. Hidden seamlessly within the design is a custom-made ash compartment integrated directly into the fuel tank to serve as a memorial.
• 🎨 Printed on our Elegoo Neptune 4 Max, the final raw black piece was hand-prepped, primed, painted, and detailed using classic metallic Rub 'n Buff to give it an authentic, industrial sheen.
• 💡 Hand-lettered with the name Richard, the structural presentation stand features custom-molded geometry and a built-in under-lighting glow circuit to highlight the train's mechanical profile.
Today was officially delivery day. 📦 Knowing this piece is headed home to honor a true railroad legacy makes every hour at the design board worth it.
