📣MEET OUR CCBN MEMBERS📣

Let's introduce Melinda Hart!

1: When/Why did you join CCBN?
February 2026. A lot of the athletes on our team commute from Coshocton County. As a working mom and business leader, I think it’s important that we help support the community in not only providing jobs but also making returning to work more attainable for moms in the area.

2: How does your organization support breastfeeding?
We provide a mother’s room on site with access to a refrigerator, sink, and on-hand pump if needed.

3: Favorite breastfeeding fact?
Babies are born ready to breastfeed and can latch on their own within the first 45-60 minutes of being earthside!

4: Tell us a little about you!
I am a proud momma of two boys, ages 4 and 2, and am happily married to my best friend Matt. I have been at Fanatics for 9.5 years and worked here during and after both of my pregnancies. Outside of working, I love reading, crocheting, and playing baseball and Hot Wheels with my boys.

An employers compliance with the Pump Act Law is essential for a working mother to continue proving breastmilk for her baby up to the 1st year. Check out this testimony of how Coshocton County Board of Developmental Disabilities helped a Coshocton working mom successfully breastfeed two babies! 💛

📣MEET OUR CCBN MEMBERS📣

Let's introduce Abby Corder!

1: When did you join CCBN?
I joined CCBN in 2021

2 :How does your organization support breastfeeding?
CareSource has many amazing benefits for moms and their families. We work with them to help with milk supply, pumping, storing and supplementing if needed.

3: Favorite breastfeeding fact?
Breastfeeding is a beautiful experience, but not without challenges. The bond created between mother and baby is one that can never be broken.

4: Tell us a little about you!
I have 2 grown children, both of whom I breast fed, and both experiences were completely different. I have 7 grandchildren, and all of them were breast fed for at least a little while. My daughter is the breastfeeding peer at WIC in Muskingum County, and is amazing at helping her mommy-clients on their breastfeeding journey. She is currently breastfeeding her 7 month old son. This Grammy is very proud of all her babies – big and little!

April is National Stress Awareness Month

We all have dealt with stress in our day to day lives but what should we know about lactating mothers and stress?

Having a baby can present its own set of stressors but offering breastmilk can actually help with lowering the risk of Postpartum Depression and Anxiety.

Offering breastmilk to your baby releases hormones for the mothers called Oxytocin and Prolactin. These hormones can act as stress reducing mood boosters for mothers, isn't that amazing?!

In the common cases that mothers are returning to work after having a baby , we can expect this to be a stressful transition for them. So, what can employers do to smooth this transition for them??

Employers need to be abiding by the Pump Act Laws to help protect their employees to maintain balance of work and feeding their baby. Pumping at work can help reduce stress by making sure they are pumping enough for baby by having enough time and breaks during their work day. Employees need to have a private space to pump. All of these things are going to help mothers feel less stressed while returning to work.

If you or someone you know is struggling with postpartum depression please reach out for help, below is a FREE hotline that can help you:
