Patuxent Companies is seeking an experienced Fleet Manager to oversee and manage the daily operations of our fleet of trucks and maintenance staff. The Fleet Manager will be responsible for ensuring maximum fleet uptime, managing maintenance schedules, coordinating with shop personnel, drivers, dispatch, and maintaining compliance with DOT/FMCSA regulations.
This position requires strong leadership, mechanical awareness, and the ability to manage multiple moving parts in a fast-paced transportation environment.

Key Responsibilities
-Oversee daily operations of a fleet of trucks and shop personnel
-Coordinate preventative maintenance schedules and repairs
-Manage relationships with service vendors, parts suppliers, and dealerships
-Track fleet performance, utilization, and operating costs
-Ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, and safety regulations
-Maintain vehicle records, inspections, and maintenance logs
-Work closely with dispatch and drivers to minimize downtime
-Manage breakdown response and roadside service coordination
-Monitor fuel usage, telematics, and operational efficiency
-Assist with purchasing decisions for trucks, trailers, and equipment
-Implement cost-control strategies for fleet operations

Qualifications
-3+ years experience managing a fleet of trucks or heavy equipment
-Strong knowledge of diesel trucks, maintenance programs, and -fleet systems
-Familiarity with DOT regulations and compliance requirements
-Experience with fleet tracking or telematics systems preferred
-Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
-Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
-Strong communication and leadership skills

Preferred Experience
-Experience with dump trucks, construction fleets, or aggregate hauling
-Knowledge of preventative maintenance systems
-Experience managing vendor service contracts
