🐾 ONE MORE STEP FORWARD FOR PACK HEALER INC. 🐾

Tonight, Pack Healer Inc. took another important step toward building something bigger than ourselves.

Our township voted unanimously — 5 YAYS, 0 NAYS — recognizing Pack Healer Inc. as a nonprofit operating in Hematite Township for the purpose of obtaining a charitable gaming license.

We are truly humbled by this show of support. ❤️

Pack Healer was built on a mission to help the dogs others have given up on. The misunderstood dogs. The dogs with difficult histories. The dogs who deserve a chance but too often run out of options.

We're still young. We're still building. And we still have a long way to go. But every step forward brings us closer to being able to help more dogs who desperately need us.

Tonight was about more than a vote. It was another step toward making our mission a reality.

To Hematite Township and everyone who believes in what we're trying to accomplish, THANK YOU.

We're building something special, and we're just getting started.

There is a part of rescue that nobody talks about enough.

The part where your phone rings.

You answer.

Someone tells you about a dog that is running out of time.

Maybe it's a dog with a bite history.
Maybe it's a dog nobody understands.
Maybe it's a dog that has simply been failed too many times.

And you know what they are going to ask before they even finish explaining.

“Can Pack Healer take him?”

And sometimes…

we have to say no.

Not because he's a bad dog.

Not because he's not worth saving.

Not because we don't care.

We say no because Pack Healer is still young.

Because there are only so many hours in a day.

Because there are only so many kennels, foster homes, vehicles, dollars, and people.

And sometimes we are forced to make the decision that every rescue hates:

We have to choose which dog we can save.

Do you know what that feels like?

To look at a picture of a dog and know that you might be one of the only people willing to give him a chance…

…and still have to type:

“I'm sorry. We don't have the space.”

Then you put the phone down.

And you wonder what happened to that dog.

Did someone step up?

Did another rescue take him?

Did he get adopted?

Or did he become another number?

Another kennel that emptied for the wrong reason?

Another dog who never got the chance to show anyone who he really was?

That's the part that hurts.

Because we've seen what happens when someone finally gives these dogs a chance.

We've watched dogs that people called dangerous become loving companions.

We've watched terrified dogs come out of their shells.

We've watched dogs labeled “unadoptable” prove everyone wrong.

We've watched misunderstood dogs become someone's best friend.

And every week, there are more.

Every. Single. Week.

Messages.

Calls.

Dogs needing somewhere to go.

Dogs whose families are desperate.

Dogs sitting in shelters.

Dogs with histories that make everyone else say, “No.”

And sometimes we have to say it too.

We don't want to.

We are not building Pack Healer because we want to save the easy dogs.

We're here because the dogs nobody else understands deserve someone who will try.

But here's the truth:

Pack Healer cannot do this alone.

We don't need people to simply tell us what a great mission this is.

We need people willing to help make it possible.

We need fosters.

We need volunteers.

We need transport help.

We need people willing to donate.

We need people willing to learn.

We need people willing to stand beside us when the dog in front of us isn't perfect.

Because every person who steps up gives us the ability to say yes to another dog.

And somewhere out there right now is a dog whose story hasn't ended yet.

A dog waiting for someone to believe there is more to him than his worst day.

We don't want to keep saying no.

We want to be able to answer that phone and say:

“Yes. Bring him home.”

But we can't do that without you.

The dogs don't need more people to feel sorry for them.

They need people willing to show up.

Because sometimes the difference between life and death isn't whether a dog is worth saving.

It's whether there is someone there willing to save him.

Help us become that someone.

🐾 Chowder — Still Learning, Still Growing ❤️

Chowder is the youngest dog Pack Healer has ever taken in, coming to us at just 6 months old.

And honestly… that puppy energy is a big part of why he’s still with us. 😂

Sometimes his excitement, foot-nipping, chasing and vocal behavior can look and sound like aggression if you don't understand what you're seeing. But a lot of it is rooted in his herding instincts and being a young dog who hasn't learned how to channel all that energy yet.

Chowder is a great puppy. He's loving, smart, playful and full of personality. He just has some things to work through—and that's exactly why we're giving him the time and structure he needs.

At Pack Healer, we don't believe every difficult behavior means a dog is a bad dog.

Sometimes they just need someone willing to understand the dog underneath the behavior.

Chowder is still learning. And we're still learning him. ❤️🐾

Just look at this girl! 🥰

Lux is living her BEST LIFE with our VP, and we couldn't be happier for her. From a dog with a bite history that many wouldn't even consider taking, to this sweet girl lounging around in her orange jacket like she owns the place. 😂🐾

Lux has shown us exactly what we believed all along — a history doesn't define a dog.

She's sweet, she's funny, she's loving, and she's become a pretty important part of the household. ❤️

Would our VP adopt her out to the right person?

Possibly... 😂😂

But we're starting to think the only thing that needs to happen is for someone to explain to Lux that she's supposed to be looking for a home — because she seems to think she's already home. 😆

This is why we do what we do.

I know we've been silent lately but we have just been working and working on chowder Head. Theirs not a lot of dogs that we put Loki with. He's an amazing pup with a ton of potential. GO CHOWDER!!
