๐Ÿš€ Motivation Monday โ€“ October 19

๐Ÿ’ฐ Growth Can Create a Cash Flow Problem

It sounds backwards.

Sales are increasing.
New customers are coming in.
Revenue is climbing.

๐Ÿ“ˆ So why does the business suddenly feel short on cash?

Because growth costs money.

You may need to:

๐Ÿ‘ฅ Add employees before the additional revenue arrives.

๐Ÿ“ฆ Purchase inventory or materials before customers pay.

๐Ÿ“ข Increase marketing to maintain momentum.

๐Ÿ› ๏ธ Add equipment, technology, or capacity.

๐Ÿ’ณ Carry larger Accounts Receivable balances.

๐Ÿ’ฐ Cover higher operating expenses every month.

That means a rapidly growing business can actually run out of cash while showing increasing revenue and even profit on paper.

If youโ€™re pushing toward $1 Million+ in annual revenue, proactive financial management becomes even more important as you grow.

Before making your next big growth move, ask:

๐Ÿ“Š How much cash will this growth require?

๐Ÿ“… When will the additional revenue actually become cash in the bank?

๐Ÿ’ต How much working capital do I need during the gap?

๐Ÿ“ˆ What happens if growth happens faster than expected?

๐Ÿ“‰ What happens if customers pay slower than expected?

Growth shouldnโ€™t catch your finances by surprise.

๐Ÿ’ก Donโ€™t just create a sales forecast.

Create a cash flow forecast that shows what those sales will require from your business before they pay you back.

๐Ÿš€ Because the goal isnโ€™t simply to reach $1 Million in revenue.

Itโ€™s to have the financial strength to handle $1 Million when you get there.

๐Ÿ’ฐ Finance Friday: Is Your Nonprofit Prepared for Year-End Giving?

For many nonprofits, the final weeks of the year can represent a significant portion of annual donations.

But a successful year-end campaign shouldnโ€™t begin in December.

It should already be taking shape now.

Before asking donors to give, your organization should be able to clearly answer:

โœ… What do we need to raise before year-end?

โœ… Why do we need that amount?

โœ… What specific programs, operations, or projects will those dollars support?

โœ… What impact will a donorโ€™s contribution create?

โœ… How will we communicate that impact after the donation is received?

Then look at your donors.

Who gave last year but hasnโ€™t given this year?

Who consistently supports your organization?

Who increased their giving?

Who might be ready for a larger gift?

Who needs to hear from you before they receive another donation request?

Year-end fundraising isnโ€™t just about sending more emails or making more social media posts.

Itโ€™s about relationships.

Your donors should understand the need, believe in the mission, see the impact, and trust your organization to use their contribution responsibly.

And remember:

Not every conversation needs to begin with an ask.

Sometimes the best year-end fundraising conversation begins with:

โ€œThank you.โ€

Tell donors what their support accomplished this year.

Show them the people, programs, and communities they helped.

Then invite them to help create the next chapter.

Donโ€™t wait until December 20th to start thinking about year-end giving.

Know the need.

Tell the story.

Build the relationship.

Make the ask.

And show the impact.

Thatโ€™s how fundraising becomes more than collecting donations.

It becomes financial stewardship that strengthens the mission.
