Key Tips in Engaging Candidates

Had a rough go receiving responses from your candidates? Use these 10 tips to help in your engagement success.

Text Campaigns
✔ Start with texts after you have engaged candidates by phone and that the candidates have opted in.
✔ Ensure the content is relevant to the candidate.

Emails
✔ Add video emails to the mix. They are more personalized and are different from the dozens of standard recruiter emails they receive daily.
✔ Send relevant content on their areas of expertise.
✔ Candidates are 50% more likely to open up and respond when using personal emails.

Phone Calls
✔ Calls are the best way to connect, but if candidates don't recognize your number, they may not answer so let them know your number and that you will follow up by phone.
✔ Calls versus other mediums are key especially when the candidates are in-process.

Inmails
✔ Review candidate profiles before reaching out. Research wins hearts every time.
✔ Focus on their accomplishments in their profile.
✔ Ask your candidates regarding their goals and desired career path.

How you answer will help you focus on what needs to be done. Let's get started.

1️⃣ When you first engage with candidates, do you get to know them first, undestand their story, their successes or do you go right to the point by asking them when they can talk to discuss a position you are recruiting for?

2️⃣ Are you investing in the right talent attraction tools or do you still believe that post and pray will land you the right talents?

3️⃣ Do you your job postings and videos tell a story to get your applicants engaged and interested or you copying/pasting your job description to create job postings?

4️⃣ Does your career site effectively communicate your company's unique value proposition and unique selling points to get viewers excited or does it have the usual benefits, position types, etc?

5️⃣ Is your overall employer brand strategy focused on drawing in top level talent or are you just hoping to attract talent any way you can?

What does your business plan look like for 2020?

Wrapped up a Mastermind focused on helping entrepreneurs get their businesses off the ground.

Here are two key points to share with you whether you are starting a new business or developing your recruiting strategy.

✅ Have a business or recruiting plan. Don’t assume what worked last year will work this year. Easiest place to start is a SWOT analysis.

✅ Build out your client avatar. The avatar is the client profile or if you are in recruiting, the candidate persona. Ask, what are their goals and challenges, what do the read (blogs, websites, books, magazines etc). What are their challenges and pain points?

Bartering services was how businesses was conducted 30+ years ago. I remember when my father used to barter his legal services to one farmer. Each spring we would receive about 5 pounds of shrimp and several boxes of the best and largest tomatoes. When starting a business, it pays to barter.

Lastly, keep yourself healthy before January 1. Exercise, eat right and you will be more focused.
