We're wrapping up this May, asking Texas families, providers, educators, and community members to come together in support of children with Pediatric Feeding Disorder (PFD) and ARFID through the “It’s Not Picky Eating” campaign by Feeding Matters.

Your donation helps:
• Support families navigating feeding challenges through coaching, resources, and peer support
• Increase awareness so children are identified earlier and families feel less alone
• Expand education for healthcare providers and schools
• Advance research and advocacy efforts for PFD and ARFID
• Improve access to trauma-informed, evidence-based care

Feeding Matters has helped thousands of families through educational materials, awareness campaigns, professional training, screening initiatives, and direct family support programs. Because when eating is hard, scary, or painful… it’s not picky eating.

Every share, conversation, and donation helps move this field forward.

What a way to start the week, finding this in the mail!

It’s official! May is now PFD & ARFID Awareness Month in Texas.

For families navigating feeding challenges, this means:

You’re seen.
You’re not alone.
And your child’s experience matters.

PFD and ARFID are often misunderstood, yet they impact a child’s health, development, and daily life in profound ways.

This proclamation is a step toward better understanding, better support, and more connected care across our state.

Grateful to be part of this work alongside Feeding Matters, the Texas Community Council and so many dedicated clinicians and families.

I'm still sitting with what I heard at the Shannon Goldwater Summit for Change, the in-person kickoff for the International Pediatric Feeding Disorder Conference.

One of the most meaningful parts for me was seeing how quickly the Texas Community Council has grown and how naturally people leaned into the spirit of collaboration. Parents and clinicians sat side by side sharing raw stories. It was powerful to witness how fast initiatives can come together. In just one event, new connections formed, new supports began to take shape, and you could feel the momentum building for what comes next.

I’m incredibly grateful to Feeding Matters for creating the space for this to happen. They set the stage so that families and professionals can find one another, stay anchored in the voice of the family, and continue building the resources and collaboration needed to fill the gaps in care for children with feeding challenges.

There is so much ahead on the horizon. Thank you to Mead Formula for sponsoring our event. Thank you to Children's at Plano for hosting us. And thank you to the council members, families, and new clinicians who joined us to learn about and contribute to the community we’re building together.
