Payroll is running. Everyone is getting paid. So everything must be fine…right?

Not necessarily.

Overtime calculations, employee classifications, timekeeping and recordkeeping can create risk when pay practices aren’t reviewed regularly.

And the frustrating part?

You often don’t realize there’s a problem until an employee raises one.

A proactive payroll and wage-and-hour review is a lot easier than fixing an issue after the fact.

When was the last time someone took a close look at your pay practices?

Quick question:

Does your front desk team know exactly what they can and can’t say about a patient?

What about billing? Scheduling? New hires?

Patient information moves through more hands than most practices realize, which means HIPAA training can’t stop with your clinical staff.

A policy buried in a handbook won’t protect patient information.

A team that actually understands the policy will.

When was the last time your entire staff had HIPAA training?

“But they signed a contractor agreement.”

That alone doesn’t settle it.

The IRS looks at the actual working relationship between your business and the worker, including behavioral control, financial control and the nature of the relationship.

As the IRS puts it: “The substance of the relationship, not the label, governs the worker’s status.”

Misclassification can leave a business responsible for employment taxes and create a much bigger headache than getting it right from the start.

What exactly is fractional HR? And is it right for your business?

If HR has become too much to handle on the side, but hiring a full-time HR person doesn't make sense yet, fractional HR might be the middle ground you're looking for.

Our new guide breaks down what fractional HR actually means, what a fractional HR professional can handle, who benefits most from the model, how it compares to an HR consultant or full-time employee, and what it typically costs.

If your business is growing and your HR needs are growing with it, this one's for you. 👇

Busy season is coming. Is your hiring process ready?

Before you start bringing on seasonal employees, make sure you've thought through the basics: hiring paperwork, employee classification, timekeeping, training, onboarding, and what happens when the season ends.

Seasonal doesn't mean you can skip the HR process.

In fact, hiring a lot of people quickly is when having a consistent process matters most.

A little planning now can save a lot of scrambling later.
Not sure if your hiring process is ready for the busy season? Send us a message. We can help you get it in place before you need it.

💬 Ask Gro: “Do I really need an employee handbook if I only have a small team?”

Short answer: Yes.

You don't need a 50-page handbook full of legal jargon. But you do need your employees to understand the basic rules, expectations, and policies that apply to them.

A good handbook can help answer questions before they become problems and make sure everyone is getting the same information.

And no, your handbook doesn't have to be one-size-fits-all. It should make sense for your business and your team.

“I thought someone else was tracking it.”

These words that can cause a BIG headache in healthcare. 😬

Keeping up with licenses, certifications, renewals, CE requirements, and paperwork gets harder as your team grows.

The solution doesn't have to be complicated. It just needs clear ownership.

Who’s tracking it? Who’s following up? Who’s making sure nothing slips through the cracks?

Because when everyone thinks someone else is watching…no one is.

You've got a Boomer foreman, a Millennial manager, and a Gen Z apprentice. Somehow, they're all supposed to communicate perfectly. 😂

Different generations can have very different expectations around communication, feedback, technology, and even what "good work" looks like.

But that can actually be a strength.

Your most experienced employees have years of knowledge that can't be learned from a manual, while younger employees can bring new ideas and perspectives.

The goal isn't to make everyone work the same way. It's to create a workplace where everyone can learn from each other.

HR isn't just for companies with 200 employees and a corner office.

If you have even one employee, you have HR responsibilities. Payroll taxes. Classification rules. Basic recordkeeping. Anti-discrimination laws don't have a minimum headcount.

The businesses that get into trouble usually aren't the ones ignoring HR on purpose. They just didn't realize how much applied to them at their size.

You don't need a full HR department to be covered. You need the right support for where you're at.

Curious what that looks like for your business? Send us a message.
