PSA‼️If you haven't already started running any Winter diesel anti-gel treatment in your vehicles you need to start NOW!! If you wait until it's below freezing it may be too late!
Best practice: add it when temps are still 40–50°F or warmer
Pour it in before fueling so it mixes well as the tank fills
Once diesel starts to gel, anti-gel won’t un-gel it—that’s a different product andemergency de-geller.(Diesel Hot Line) This product will free it up within 15-20 minutes.
⏱️ How long does it need to “run”?
You don’t need hours or days
10–15 minutes of driving is usually enough to:
Circulate treated fuel through lines
Get treated fuel into the filter and injection system
Idling works too, but driving mixes it better
❄️ Temperature rules of thumb
#2 diesel (standard): starts waxing around 20–15°F
Gelling risk increases fast below that
Treated fuel is typically protected down to:
–10°F to –20°F (depends on brand and dose)
🚨 Common mistake
People wait until the night it’s going to freeze. By then:
Fuel in the tank may already be cold
Wax crystals may have started forming
Anti-gel won’t help much
✅ Best routine (especially for East Texas / Southern states)
Start treating fuel once nighttime lows hit the low 30s
Keep treating every fill-up through cold snaps
Use a diesel fuel conditioner with lubricity, not just anti-gel. (Diesel Treat 2000 winter)
