TONIGHT!! HAT DAY IN THE SUN: HARLEM.

The Headwear Association is heading back to HARLEM for Hat Day in the Sun. TONIGHT, Thursday, August 20th, 2026, at Harlem’s Heaven Hat Boutique. The Headwear Association will be giving away FREE Sun Protection Hats starting at 5PM.

This is the SIXTEENTH year The Headwear Association has given away Free Sun Protection Hats in Harlem, NYC.

Evetta Petty is located at 2538 Adam Clayton Powell Jr Blvd (at W. 147th Street), Harlem, NYC.

The Event will start at 5:00 PM, and run until 7PM or until supplies last. We usually have lines so we suggest you get there a bit early!

The Headwear Association is heading back to HARLEM for Hat Day in the Sun, THIS Thursday, August 20th, 2026, at Harlem’s Heaven Hat Boutique. The Headwear Association will be giving away FREE Sun Protection Hats THIS Thursday evening.

Happy 102nd birthday to Sam Meyer, the patriarch of Meyer the Hatter. A World War II veteran. A third-generation Hatter. A grandfather. A great-grandfather. A friend. And for more than 80 years, a familiar face welcoming generations through the doors of the incredible NOLA hat shop, Meyer The Hatter.

Sam is a legend in the headwear business, and is still running the show at the downtown New Orleans shop his grandfather founded in 1894. He stepped into the family business after serving in World War II as a fighter-plane weapons specialist who helped establish one of the first airfields in France following D-Day.

Thank you, Sam, for your service and for sharing your love of hats with New Orleans and the world. We tip our hat to you.
