Today, we’re saying THANK YOU to Pat Bailey, She Ages Well, Operation Enduring Brain Health, and Mr. Al Wash for using the State Fair Classic platform to STAND FOR VETERANS.

And thank you to Prairie View A&M University and Grambling State University for supporting a purpose bigger than football.

As a 26-year Air Force veteran, this one is personal. At Tez Jones Training Solutions, we believe: "Stronger Leaders. Stronger Teams. Better Results. And strong leaders stand for people, serve with purpose, and use their platform to make a difference.

𝗢𝗡𝗘 𝗛𝗢𝗨𝗥. 𝗢𝗡𝗘 𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗦𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡. 𝗢𝗡𝗘 𝗖𝗛𝗢𝗜𝗖𝗘 𝗧𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗖𝗢𝗨𝗟𝗗 𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗡𝗚𝗘 𝗔 𝗟𝗜𝗙𝗘.
I had the opportunity to mentor students at Trinity High School in Euless, Texas.
Their mentorship program brings community leaders and parents into the school for one hour each month, with students across the school engaging around a common topic.
This week’s conversation:
What are your plans after high school?
🎓 College?
🪖 Military?
🛠️ Trade school?
🚀 Something else?
Of course, in Tez Jones style, we turned the conversation into a lesson about CHOICE.
Because before you choose a career, a college, a military branch, or a trade...You have to understand that your choices and decisions are building your future.

Every decision may not determine your entire life, but decisions have consequences—and repeated choices and decisions can shape your direction. My goal wasn't to tell these young people what to choose. It was to challenge them to think about HOW they choose.

Ask questions.
Explore your options.
Understand the consequences.
Own your decision.
Then move forward with purpose.

That’s leadership development. And it can start long before someone receives a title.
Thank you, Trinity High School for creating space for community leaders to pour into the next generation and thank you to the Maxwell Team for ILEAD.

If we want stronger leaders tomorrow, we have to invest in young people today.

I’ve talked with John Maxwell before. I’ve taken pictures with him before. But this moment felt different.

This time, I slowed down enough to feel it.

Sitting across from John at the International Maxwell Conference, I wasn’t thinking about the picture.

I was thinking about the journey.

26 years in the United States Air Force. Stepping into entrepreneurship. Building Tez Jones Training Solutions. The leaders I’ve had the privilege to develop. The organizations that trusted me. The doors that opened. The lessons I’m still learning.

Then I looked across the room. I was sitting with one of the people whose leadership teachings helped shape my journey.

That hit differently.
Gratitude.
Perspective.
Humility.

And one thought: Wow…look what growth can do.

𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘄𝗲 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀.

𝗜 𝗳𝗲𝗹𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗷𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆.

Not because I had arrived—but because I realized how far I had come and how much further I still want to go.

𝗙𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝗺𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝗺𝘆 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘁, 𝗺𝘆 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝘆 𝗽𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲.

And I heard one simple message:

Keep going!

Maybe somebody else needs to hear that today.

Keep growing when nobody applauds.
Keep learning when nobody notices.
Keep serving when the door hasn't opened yet.

Because one day, you may find yourself sitting in a moment your younger self could only imagine.

When you do…

Slow down enough to feel it.

Then keep going.

I am so proud of my Team!

Most people will never see the work that happens before the doors open—but they will experience it.

We are the Room Set Up Team for the International Maxwell Conference, and our job is bigger than setting tables. We help set the stage for the experience.

Day One: 215 tables set.

Day Two: 220 tables coming up.

But the numbers don’t tell the real story.

The real story is a team that shows up, works together, pays attention to the details, and understands that excellence behind the scenes creates an experience out front.

Every table. Every chair. Every detail.

When attendees walk into the room, we want them to feel like someone prepared for them—because we did.

I couldn’t be prouder of this team.

We don’t just set up rooms. We help create the environment where transformation can happen.

This team is AWESOME! 🔥

One thing I have learned over the years is that productive leaders don't just make time to work.

They make time to think.

Some of my best ideas have come in moments when I intentionally stepped away from the noise and gave myself space to reflect.

As the week begins, I encourage you to create a few moments for uninterrupted thinking.

Clarity is often waiting on the other side of a pause.

Have a productive week.
