It has been a while since posting any activity. The Beer Garden and Saddle Up expansion into an historic structure is progressing. The owner is acting as their own General Contractor and moves the project when cash is available. There was a delay in steel which is still a persistent issue even today but not as bad as a year ago.

Received the acknowledgment from the Department of Interior that the Part 2 submission for Historic Tax Credits has been approved with no additional conditions than the State required. Not bad for our first submission.

02/05/2023

Completed the first Part 2 submission nearly a month ago and it has been approved by the State Historic Preservation Office for submission to the National Park Service. The NPS confirmed receipt of the documents which was followed by submission of the fee. NPS review should begin tomorrow Feb 6. If they accept it with the normal conditions the owners will qualify for Historic Tax Credits.

The Middle School in Reno which had the most needs identified on my school walks is now scheduled for emergency replacement. Kudos to the Principal whom showed us everything that was not adequate or right about the facility. I turned in notes of everything that went beyond the assessment tool we were provided to work with. She knew we were coming and dropped everything on her schedule to make her case for getting the building some attention.

DaVinci Planning, PC has been providing guidance on the rehabilitation of a Historic Structure in Peoria IL. The home is a registered historic structure with the Dept. of the Interior. The home is a 2nd Empire which adds an additional boost of excitement since these were not as common as the Queen Anns or Italianate Styles.

Well the the work for the Carver Center bid past fall is about to get underway funded by a Grant from the City of Peoria, IL. Hoping to begin serving our smallest children in the area by providing affordable access to child care.

Proposed Birth-Age 3 Early Learning Center for a local 501c3 grant submission. Kept the architecture simple so funds can be focused on an interior experience and high quality materials. A lot of thought given to higher initial investment for lower operation & maintenance costs. This will serve upwards of just over 200 infant/toddlers so that lower income families can afford to join the workforce. Lets all hope the community is blessed with the grant for the trade, architecture and engineering jobs created as well as the nearly $10m economic energy it would provide Peoria. The employment would generate over 20 full time jobs and 5-8 part time long term positions.
