Hmmm. Let's start with the obvious: DON'T paint your house bright yellow before listing it! Neutrals are nearly always the best choice for a house on the market. It gives the buyer an opportunity to see the house for itself and not get distracted by bold colors.
A second imperative is lighting. Spend a few hundred dollars and upgrade your lightbulbs. Especially with older homes that do not have a lot of natural lighting, having light fixtures at full wattage and with bright white or daylight bulbs will make a difference.
