Our recent client, Dallas, just sent us this letter:

I received a call from a debt collector saying that if I didn’t pay the account, not only would they garnish my wages but threatened to tell my employer that I have a large amount of debt, and that they would put a lien on my vehicle.

I recorded and took photos of everything they sent me in order to collect and learn as much as I could, in case I’d have to go to court. After 4 days of doing research, I learned that garnishment of wages is not legal in Texas, except for certain debts.

I submitted a complaint to a state agency and soon after I received a call from Ron. Let me preface by saying Ron is the man! He took care of me, shared some laughs about the situation and assured me that what the collector was doing was illegal.

Ron and I made some calls, gathering as much info as we could. After putting my case together, Ron put me in touch with a lawyer who took care of me and told me not to worry about a thing. I did as instructed and now those scammers are paying ME!

Ron, I can’t thank you enough for what you have done and I won’t hesitate to call you again if another bad debt collector calls. You are the man! Thank you for all that you do.

Hi, this is my first post on our new Debt Collectors Busted page, and I wanted to share a testimonial that I recently received from a young lady about 4 months ago. Here's Amanda's testimonial letter:

Amanda’s Testimonial

Earlier this year, my husband received a call from a debt collector who stated they were looking for me. After speaking with Ron, I called the number that afternoon and recorded the call as Ron recommended.

I was informed that they were a “mediation company” collecting on a debt that went bad in 2009, in the amount of $4,676. They went on to explain that I was sent a form 1099-C from the original creditor and had never reported this account as income to the IRS.

I was then told that I could pay the $4,676 plus penalties and interest to the IRS or that I could deal with them. The collector said that going through her company would be the “less aggressive” and less expensive approach, and even told me to call the IRS if I preferred dealing with them. Who wants to deal with the IRS, right?

After the one phone call from the collector to my husband and then me speaking to the collector two times, I turned over all recordings to Ron.

At that time, Ron began to put a case together with all the evidence I sent to him. He was very thorough and able to find all of the violations and expedited my case to the attorney.

The attorney, Jeff, called shortly afterward to explain the steps of filing a lawsuit against the collection company and what to expect. Jeff was very responsive to all of my calls and emails, and followed up with me regularly throughout the process.

It took about 2 months or so for Jeff to work out the settlement with the collector, which totaled over $12,000 and included getting the $4676 debt forgiven!

In closing, had I called the collection company without first speaking to Ron, I would have probably thought that this was a legitimate collection. Ron eased my mind from the beginning and I am so glad he and Jeff were in my corner!
