✨I was so excited to get this call today!✨ A returning client who was so happy with the nanny I placed with her two years ago wants my help finding their next nanny! This is a first for me and I am honored that they’re trusting me with this search again!!

✨PARENTING STYLES✨

I think this is something that is so crucial for families and nannies to be on the same page about. Every great nanny will, of course, defer to what the parent wants, but when that nanny is having to implement something they might not necessarily agree with or do the same way, it can create a potential problem.

The first step in this process is sit down and figure out what your parenting style is! While there is obviously ways to take bits and pieces from each of these, there are 4 common parenting styles that exist:

1. Authoritative
2. Authoritarian
3. Permissive
4. Uninvolved

Below is a great article that explains each of these really well. Just as you’d want all parents to be on the same page with all aspects of parenting, you want your nanny to be on the same page, too! Children respond best to consistency!

✨Hi! Happy New Year everyone!✨

I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself for those who are new here!

I am Jade Kappler. I have been a nanny for over 17 years mainly in the Dallas-Fort Worth area but also in New York and Nashville, TN! It has been the most rewarding career.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A few years ago I saw a very real need in my area for families who were struggling to find quality nannies. I knew that this was something I could help with, and more so, it was something I was passionate about helping with. In 2019 I launched my nanny agency, JMK Nannies. I learned so much in opening this business, but mostly I saw that so many families wanted guidance in this process, not necessarily for an agency to do the searching for them. I have now shifted the focus of my business from a nanny agency to consulting.

A few months ago, I launched JMK Childcare Consulting! We are here to answer questions and help find the solution to your family’s childcare needs. ✨WHAT WE SEE!!✨ As we go into a new week, I wanted to share a few tips for nannies while they’re interviewing and for families to watch out for as they’re interviewing potential caregivers. My goal is to make sure that caregivers are putting their best foot forward when interviewing with a family and for families to find the best fit for the kids and home. I have spent a lot of time interviewing candidates and these are the biggest pieces of advice I can give!

💥Tip #1: Show up on time for your interview and if you can’t please let the family know BEFORE the interview!

💥Tip #2: Look presentable!

💥Tip #3: Respond to all emails, texts, calls within 24 hours!

💥Tip #4: Speak respectfully about past employers!

💥What if I told you I started taking care of kids when I was just a kid myself?!💥

I come from a very large family with lots of kids and a grandmother who took care of them everyday in her home. From the moment you were big enough to help, you were helping. My love for being a caregiver comes from her and my early years with her.

From there I began volunteering with younger kids at church teaching kindergarten choir and working with elementary kids while in middle school and high school. I began babysitting from there and that led to my first nanny position! And I haven’t looked back since!

I have worked with many families all over the country. When you’ve seen first hand how amazing it is to mesh so well with a family, like I have, all you want is for families and nannies to experience that, too! My passion is to guide families and nannies to do just that. I know it can seem so overwhelming when beginning a nanny search. I want to offer my knowledge to help those who don’t know where to start or what to do once they start! 💕
