Let’s talk about something we don’t always say out loud…

If we don’t have sales, we don’t have a business.

We can have the prettiest branding, the best website, the strongest work ethic — but without revenue, it’s just a hobby.

That’s why I’m really excited about our March C-Suite Synergy luncheon. 💼✨

We’re bringing in Lindsey Schradle, a Sales Strategist who helps business owners turn conversations into consistent revenue. And she’s leading an interactive session called:

“Referral Ready: Turn Your Ideal Client & Value Proposition into a Sell Story Others Can Repeat.”

Because here’s the truth about networking:
It’s not about collecting business cards.
It’s about making it easy for people to refer you.

If someone can’t clearly explain what you do — and who you help — they can’t send business your way.

On March 4, we’re going to work on:
✔️ Defining your ideal client so others can spot them
✔️ Creating language people can actually repeat
✔️ Building a 60-second story that makes referrals natural

This is strategy. This is clarity. This is revenue growth.

📅 Wednesday, March 4
🕛 12:00 – 1:30 PM
📍 Firebirds Wood Fired Grill – Plano

If you’re a woman in business and want networking to actually lead to growth, I’d love to have you at the table.

Every opportunity in life passes through a person.
And more often than we realize… that person is us.

People don’t miss opportunities because they aren’t capable.
They miss them because they quietly talk themselves out of them.

I worked with a client who had been passed over for a promotion more than once. She was qualified. She worked hard. She had a strong reputation.

But the story she told herself sounded like this:
“I’m not good enough yet.”
“My role is to support others.”
“I’m not the one who should step forward.”

She never said those words out loud, but they showed up everywhere.

She stayed quiet in meetings.
She deferred when opportunities came up.
She played small without even realizing it.

There was nothing wrong with her skills.
What was holding her back was how she saw herself.

As we worked together, we didn’t start with strategies or tactics. We started with mindset.

She rewrote the story she had been living from:
“I’m here to support,”
to
“I am allowed to lead.”

And when her mindset changed, everything else followed.

Her presence shifted.
She spoke with more confidence.
She stopped shrinking.
She gave herself permission to take up space.

Recently, she was promoted.

The job didn’t change.
The company didn’t change.
Her skills didn’t suddenly improve.

The only thing that changed was her belief in herself, and that showed up in how she carried herself every day.

That’s how mindset impacts presence.
And that’s why so many people get in their own way.

If you’ve been feeling stuck or overlooked, it might not be about doing more.
It might be time to ask yourself:

What story am I telling myself about what I deserve?

When words and actions don’t match, that’s manipulation, not leadership.

Most leaders don’t intend to be manipulative.
But when leaders say one thing and do another, this is what employees experience:

Confusion.
Loss of trust.
Feeling unsafe to speak up.
Disengagement.

And eventually… they leave.

Here’s the hard truth:
Most leadership problems aren’t about bad people.
They’re about leaders who were never taught how to lead people.

Leadership today requires:
✨ emotional intelligence
✨ communication skills
✨ self-awareness under pressure
✨ consistency between what you say and what you do

Because people don’t expect perfection.
They expect honesty.
They expect consistency.
They expect clarity.

Strong leadership builds trust.
And trust changes everything.

Have you ever worked somewhere where leadership said one thing… but did another?

“Leadership Isn’t About Being Liked”

We hear a lot about “great culture,” but culture lives and dies in daily behaviors, especially leadership behavior.

Three things that quietly damage teams:
❌ avoiding conflict
❌ leading with mood instead of clarity
❌ trying to please everyone

Leaders don’t do these things because they’re bad.
They do them because they were never trained.

Leadership is emotional intelligence.
Leadership is communication.
Leadership is presence.

When leaders grow, teams thrive.

In my latest LinkedIn article from "People Skills That Pay Off", I discuss these unintentional leadership behaviors and ways to avoid them.

These are all distress behaviors taught through the Process Communication Model. This is a powerful tool to teach self-awareness which is the first step in becoming a better leader.

Check out the article, the link is in the comments, and let me know which unintentional toxic behaviors you've seen in the workplace. 👇
