Update: Are Russian Scammers Divorcing Western Union?

There must have been some changes in the way Russian banks operate, or at least in the way Western Union and MoneyGram operate. I say that because, according to my observation, for the past year, Russian scammers have been frantically experimenting with new ways to receive money from their victim. Have WU and MoneyGram become a little too nosy?

A slightly new twist on the old travel scam: the girl invites you to chat on Skype in real time (although the chat will take some time in the future as her current laptop is broken). I do not see that happen often - scammers usually do not like Skype.

Then of course her vacation come up unexpectedly, and here comes the hook for the visa and tickets costs. The scammers now offer several money transfer options: MoneyGram, Western Union, and Unistream. (I feel that soon they will start accepting Discovery and Diners Club!)

The girl takes alot of selfies, including some from her supposed trip to Moscow.

Scammers from Mari El Republic are one of the most notorious and bold ones. Most of them have enough brains to use proxy servers. But, apparently, not this one..... This scammer may be not very security-conscious, but still dangerous to other Internet user.

Russian and Ukrainians scammers. African scammers. Asian scammers.
