I’m so glad my 4 year bachelor degree in Fashion has finally paid off.

After deciding, yesterday, that he indeed isn’t too old for Halloween, my teenager bought a last minute costume and before I had coffee this morning, asked me to hem the sleeves.

“You can sew Mum…it’ll take like..what? 5 minutes?” 😬

So while I’m wizzing his costume under my machine, I’m thinking about all the degrees that aren’t used.

Or are they?

With all the talk about the expense of college and “it’s a waste of time” and “don’t study this or that…” I do think there’s so many life lessons learnt, and unconscious learnings that are applied every day in life and in many careers.

So while I took a drastic career pivot from my direct degree, the skills do pop up every now and then 😉

I didn’t leave corporate. I was laid off. I went through a mixed bag of emotions but quickly landed on…”resolved, free, empowered and excited.”

That reads like I was in corporate jail. Maybe I was to a degree? But I’ll always be grateful for the experiences I gained in those decades.

But for a long time, deep down, I was itching to do something different, so the lay off was the kick I needed, the silver lining.....

I'm now fortunate to work with amazing clients, doing the work I love and choose to do, and I’m 100% remote - which allows me to work, travel and visit friends with sweet dogs like Charlie 😉
