Here's your 34th tip: Keep Your Small Electronics Organized and Accessible

Our lives are made easier and perhaps more entertaining each day with the variety of small electronics available. Things such as cell phones, IPods, MP3 players, ebook readers, and handheld video games can bring more to our lives, including more clutter. Follow some basic guidelines to make owning and using these gadgets even easier.

-Use a drawer, bin, or decorative basket for all of the cords and accessories.

-Label all charging and accessory cords with small file folder labels.

-Label battery charger boxes and keep a simple list of which type of battery each product uses.

-Use inexpensive Velcro bands to keep cords wrapped neatly when not in use.

-Keep a supply of electronic monitor wipes handy for cleaning screens.

-Have a supply of electronic-safe disinfectant wipes for cleaning devices regularly.

Here's your 33rd tip: Give New Life to Storage Items

When beginning an organizing project it is important to think outside of the box. Don't be afraid to give new life to storage items you might not typically choose for projects.

-Fishing tackle boxes are great for craft supplies, and are lightweight and durable.

-Plastic dish pans are the perfect size for most standard bookshelves and can hold varieties of items, and are extremely inexpensive.

-Dresser drawers often fit well under beds and stairwells to take advantage of awkward or unused storage locations.

-The durable plastic bags in which comforters and blankets are sold make great soft-sided storage items for anything from holiday décor to seasonal clothes.

Don't just go and buy every plastic storage box you can find. Instead, think outside the box and bring new life to household items.

Here's your 32nd tip: Create a Family Command Center

Keeping up with the hectic lives of family members can be a challenge, but by creating a family command center you can help calm the chaos. Select a central location where everyone will know where to look, such as a kitchen or den, and incorporate the following ideas that will keep everyone on track.

-A family calendar with everyone's schedules
-Shopping lists
-A phone message board
-A dry erase board for special reminders
-A list of important phone numbers
-Special instructions, such as how to set the house alarm
-An extra set of vehicle keys
-A secret stash of emergency cash

Top it all off by displaying a family motto to help motivate and remind everyone how important each member of the family is.

Here's your 31st tip: Help Kids Learn How to Organize

Kids' bedrooms are often cluttered with toys, school items, and anything they can drag through the door. Help them to conquer the clutter by setting them up for success with functional storage.

-Instead of one large toy box in which small parts are easily lost, invest in several smaller ones.

-Have kids help sort their items into like piles and put in separate bins, boxes, or totes.

-Label all containers or use clear containers for younger children who can't read labels yet.

-Use fish nets or pet nets to keep stuffed animals off of the floor.

-String coordinating ribbons from the tops of shelves and use clothespins to attach artwork.

Encourage kids to keep the space organized. When they know there is a special place for each item it will be easier for them to maintain.

Here's your 30th tip: Create Functional Garage Spaces

Home garages can become cluttered, dirty, and not very functional if we don't follow a few guidelines.

-Use boxes, bins, hooks, and shelving to get items off of the garage floor.

-Utilize rafter space for storing less frequently used or seasonal items.

-If you are forever unsure of how far to pull a vehicle forward into the garage without hitting the lawnmower, take a thin rope and attach a tennis ball to the end. Hang it from the rafters at a level where the windshield just touches it when you pull forward the proper distance.

-Paint colorful lines on the garage floor to signify kids' parking spaces for their bikes.

-Keep sawhorses and a sheet of plywood handy for easy to store and assemble workstations.

Here's your 29th tip: Reduce Board Game Clutter

Board games aren't much fun if the pieces are missing, but keeping the boxes for games in spill free condition is also a challenge. Keep your supply of games and puzzles organized and ready for the fun.

-Use zipper seal bags to organize game pieces and tape the bags to the inside lid of the box to avoid losing them.

-Take large zipper seal freezer bags and put puzzle pieces into them, then cut out the cover from the puzzle box that shows the picture and store inside the bag.

-Use bookshelves or storage bins to keep games and puzzles together.

-Keep a basket, bowl, or bin on a game shelf for any of those stray pieces.

Don't miss out on the fun because the games are missing pieces or can't be found at all. Reduce board game clutter and bring on game night!

Here's your 28th tip: Get Rid of Cord Clutter

For many homes the problem is the same: too many electrical cords running every which way, cluttering space and twisting through our lives. You can reduce that cord clutter in a few easy steps.

-First, unplug and inspect each cord, checking for nicks or cuts that might cause it to be a danger to people and pets.

-Use file folder sticky labels to clearly label to what each cord belongs so that when multiple items are plugged-in next to each other there is no more following the cord to determine the owner.

-For countertop space savers, use multiple-outlet adapters with 3 or 4 outlets per side.

-Where cords are lying along the ground, especially in multiples, use plastic tubing around the cords to conceal and contain the cord clutter.

Here's your 26th tip: Grow Great Garden Storage Spaces

Gardening and lawn maintenance can be easier when you take time to organize your tools and supplies.

-Use nails and hooks to hold tools such as trowels, rakes, and shovels. If you have a shed or garage available, install a piece of lattice or peg board for easier hook hanging.

-Use extra flower pots as storage space for pruners, gloves, or fertilizer sticks.

-Attach a leather or canvas tool belt to the outside of a bucket.
Use the tool pockets for gardening tools and the bucket to carry supplies such as kneeler pads or pots.

-When storing pots over the colder months, layer plastic or garbage bags between them to prevent them from sticking together.

Digging in the dirt will be even more fun when you have grown great garden storage spaces and can find all of the right tools and supplies.
