After every coaching session, there’s a moment I love — the moment when a client says, “Okay… I know what I need to do next.”

That clarity is powerful. But clarity alone doesn’t create change.

What happens after the session is where accountability becomes essential.
Not pressure. Not perfection.
Just intentional support that keeps someone moving toward what they said matters.

During the Coast‑to‑Coast challenge, all three individuals left with a plan — and each one had a different next step. A reconnection. A new direction. A first step into a career.

My role isn’t to do the work for them.
My role is to help them build the confidence, structure, and momentum to do it themselves.

Because when people feel supported, they follow through.
And when they follow through, everything shifts.

Last week, during International Coaching Week, I had the gift of reconnecting with three clients I coached more than five years ago. While each conversation was scheduled as a coaching session, what unfolded was so much more meaningful.

We talked about career milestones, personal growth, unexpected pivots, and even a new baby on the way. We celebrated wins, acknowledged the hard moments, and created space for the real, human stories that shape who we are and how we lead.

Those conversations reminded me why I do this work. Coaching isn’t just about goals and performance—it’s about connection, trust, and walking alongside people as they navigate the chapters of their lives. Getting to catch up on what matters most to them was an absolute joy, and I’m deeply grateful for it.

If you and I have worked together in the past, I’d love to reconnect.

Customers may never see the internal confusion directly — but they feel the effects of it.

They experience it through:
🚩inconsistent communication
🚩delayed responses
🚩shifting expectations
🚩missed handoffs
🚩unclear ownership
🚩and decisions that keep changing

What feels like “internal friction” inside the organization eventually becomes part of the customer experience.

Over time, that impacts more than ex*****on.

It impacts confidence.
Credibility.
Reputation.
And eventually, customer loyalty.

Healthy organizations understand that clarity and alignment are not just internal culture issues — they are business issues.

Because every reopened decision, unclear handoff, and shifting priority eventually reaches the customer.

What’s one sign — internally or externally — that tells you an organization is struggling with alignment?

Your vendors experience your culture too.

They notice:
🚨changing expectations
🚨conflicting direction
🚨unclear ownership
🚨delayed decisions
and 🚨communication that feels messy

Eventually, even strong partners become hesitant to engage.

Not because the people are bad —
because the experience becomes difficult to navigate.

Operational confusion doesn’t stay internal.
It affects relationships, timelines, reputation, and ex*****on.

Organizations that operate well create:
⭐Clear communication.
⭐Clear accountability.
⭐Clear follow-through.

Your internal culture eventually becomes visible externally.

What’s one thing organizations do that makes them easier — or harder — to work with as a partner or vendor?

Coaching isn’t just about goals and action steps. It’s about people — their stories, their hopes, their fears, and the moments when they’re ready for something new.

During the ICF Coast‑to‑Coast pro‑bono challenge, I had the chance to sit with three individuals at very different stages of life and career. Yet each one showed up with a willingness to explore what’s possible.

That’s the magic.

⭐ A reconnection.
⭐ A brand‑new connection.
⭐ A young professional stepping into her future.

All three left with a plan.
I left reminded that when we create space for others, we grow too.

Coaching is a partnership — and these conversations were a gift.

Employees rarely say:
“I’m leaving because there’s low trust.”

They say:
“The expectations keep changing.”
“I don’t know where I stand.”
“Decisions happen behind closed doors.”
“I don’t see a future here.”

People can handle hard work.
What wears them down is uncertainty.

When priorities constantly shift and communication feels inconsistent, employees stop feeling confident about their future in the organization.

People stay where they experience:
⭐clarity
⭐consistency
⭐development
⭐and confidence in leadership

Culture is shaped long before someone submits a resignation letter.

What’s one thing leaders do that helps people feel more confident and committed at work?

If you missed my latest newsletter, it’s a deep dive into something every team feels but doesn’t always name: trust.

Low trust doesn’t show up loudly — it shows up in hesitation, softened feedback, confusion after meetings, and people becoming more guarded over time. And the cost is real: slower decisions, weaker collaboration, and more stress for everyone.

In this issue, I break down the small, consistent behaviors that rebuild trust and strengthen accountability — the same practices I use with teams every day.

And for leaders ready to take the next step, I’m offering something special:

👉 The first two people who schedule a Clarity Call will receive the Five Behaviors Personal Development assessment (a $250 value) at no cost.

Some teams don’t look dysfunctional from the outside.

Meetings happen.
Projects move forward.
People stay professional.

But underneath, there’s friction.

You hear it in comments like:

“I thought we already decided this.”
“Who actually owns this?”
“Why are we revisiting this again?”

💡Over time, teams become cautious instead of collaborative.

Communication gets filtered.
Decision-making slows down.
Energy shifts from solving problems to managing tension.

The issue usually isn’t talent.
It’s a lack of clarity, alignment, and consistent follow-through.

Healthy teams create environments where people can move forward together with confidence.

What’s one phrase you hear on teams that usually signals deeper issues underneath the surface?

I love events! Planning them, executing them, talking about them afterwards to relive the highs and troubleshoot the lows for next time. But, there’s a moment at almost every event where something feels like it might go off the rails...for me, anyway. Recently, I had the opportunity to emcee an event for the National Charity League. Invariably, the audio visual or or tech is where things have the highest likelihood to go wrong! But then there's Mikey B from Dallas Wow Events (www.dallaswowevents.com). For the past seven years, he’s been the one behind the scenes running audio, visual, lighting, and music. And while others might feel the pressure, Mikey brings a kind of grounded confidence that settles the room. He listens. He troubleshoots. He fixes what needs fixing. What stands out isn’t just his technical skill—it’s the way years of experience show up as quiet, consistent confidence. No panic. No spotlight. Just excellence. A reminder that mastery often looks like calm. It was fun working together, Mikey!

Humans at Work is my ongoing series where I spotlight everyday people who show up to their work—any work—with heart and intention. These are the moments that stop me in my tracks: someone leading with kindness, courage, passion, or quiet excellence. The kind of leadership you won’t find in an org chart, but you’ll see in grocery stores, coffee shops, doctor’s offices, and other everyday interactions.

These are the people who remind me that leadership isn’t about titles. It’s about how we choose to show up in the world—and how our presence can make work more human for the people around us.
