I’ve heard this oh so many times, “My family and friends don’t support my business, I give up!” As I mapped out my content for the rest of the month yesterday (ok, yeah, I’m playing catch up) I realized this needed to be discussed!
Now most of us started out on social media with personal profiles. Then when we started our business, or upped our marketing plan, we decided to put our business on social media too. Of course, we can reach a larger audience this way. However, your personal page should be just that, personal. There’s nothing wrong with promoting your business on that page but you can’t expect consistent results ONLY by doing it that way. When your friends and family accepted your request to connect, they did it to see your personal life. While some may buy with you, most wont. They may not even like or share your posts. This is because they are probably not your target audience. They probably support YOU or what you do, but that doesn’t mean they are buyers.
Let’s face it, there are many people in your target audience that you don’t want to know your personal business. And most of them don’t care about what you ate for dinner, about your kids recitals, or how you dress up your pets. By having a separate page for business, you can promote just that and attract those who desire your products or services.
This week we will discuss the pros and cons and everything in between of having separate profile pages. Do you have separate pages? Why or why not? Post your biz page below and maybe your target audience will see this post!
