One word may be undermining your communication.

And chances are… you use it every day.

That word is “Just.”
“I just wanted to ask…”
“I just think…”

It sounds harmless.

But the word “just” minimizes everything that comes after it.

In this quick video, I explain why this tiny word can make you sound less confident, less direct, and less persuasive without you realizing it.

Watch the video.
Start paying attention, then tell me how often you catch yourself using the word “just” .

In some cultures, being calm and controlled signals professionalism.

In the U.S., being calm can sometimes be mistaken for disinterest.

Not understanding that cultural fact can negatively impact you in interviews, leadership situations, networking, presentations, and client relationships.

You may think you sound reflective.
Others may experience you as detached.

You may think you sound composed.
Others may interpret it as uncertain.

That’s why this conversation matters.

In this webinar, I will break down why and how enthusiasm is communicated in American business culture and how to increase your vocal and physical expressiveness without becoming someone you’re not.

The Enthusiasm Advantage: Mastering Vocal and Physical Energy for a U.S. Business Context

You didn’t lose the room because your idea was weak.

You lost it because no one felt it.

Here’s something I see all the time:
You walk into the meeting prepared.
You’ve got the logic, the data, the slides.
You explain the data. Clearly. Thoroughly.

But you still get:
“Let’s circle back to slide….”

And you feel the frustration rise.

That comment? It’s not about the quality of what you presented.
It’s because just the numbers didn’t move them.

Facts inform.
Story engages and persuades.
Story illustrates what’s at stake.

It makes the problem come alive.

Story pulls your listeners into your analysis instead of making them analyze it for themselves from a distance.

Without story, your message stays stuck in “interesting.”
It doesn’t reach, “Let’s act on this!”

If you want people to act on your ideas,
You have to make them feel it… not just understand it.

Not Interrupting Might Be Keeping You Out of the Conversation.

You think you’re being polite.
They assume you have nothing to say.

When I first lived in Italy, I couldn’t break into conversations.
Why? Because I was waiting for my turn. I was waiting for a small silence to enter.

But it never came.
Why? Because in Italian speaking style silence doesn’t happen.
If you don’t interrupt, you don’t speak.

Here’s a reality that many professionals miss:
Communication rules are not universal.
What feels respectful in one culture
Can make you invisible in another.

So if you’re holding back, waiting for someone to let you in…
It might never happen.

🎯 Sometimes, your words will never be heard if you don’t barge in.

I can' help you clarify your words. Schedule a Discovery call here: https://linked.crmconnect.net/widget/bookings/bb-discover

Often, professionals think they have a content problem.

When what they might actually have is an energy problem.

In the U.S. business context, people aren’t just evaluating your ideas. They’re evaluating how much you believe in your ideas. They are looking for conviction, confidence, and engagement in the way that you speak.

If expressive communication isn’t part of your culture or wasn’t part of your upbringing, that can create a frustrating disconnect:
You care deeply about your ideas, but your American audience isn’t fully feeling it.

Many people are confident speakers.

The problem is, they struggle to be clear.

Often due to nerves or stress, they:
Tighten their jaw
Barely move their lips
Drop the ends of words and sentences

The consequence?
Their message loses impact.

Not because what they are sharing isn’t important.
But, because their message is difficult to understand.

When a message isn’t communicated clearly, people miss the point… and they don’t buy in.

And the gap between what you know and how you’re perceived gets wider.

If this is a communication issue you can relate to, I’d love to help.

They Didn’t Tune Out Because of His Accent. They Tuned Out Because He Spoke Too Long.

As a non-native speaker of English, you can be fluent in English,
and still lose the room.

One of my clients, an Italian executive, was struggling to get his ideas across in U.S. board meetings.

It wasn’t because of what he said, but how long he took to say it.

In Italian culture, interrupting people is the norm.
In the U.S. interrupting is considered rude.

So he kept talking…and talking… and talking…
And his audience? They didn’t interrupt him. They mentally checked out.

If you come from a culture where holding the floor is a sign of power, here’s what you need to know:
In some cultures, ceding the floor to other speakers is a sign of respect.

It’s not just what you say.
It’s how long you hold the floor.

Different Cultures = Different Communication Rules.
If you’re using a communication style that doesn’t fit the room,
people will miss your point, even when it’s a good one.

🎯 Say less. Land more.

If your communication style isn’t translating, I can help you fix that.

You walked into the meeting feeling clear and confident about what you needed to say.
But your team walked out feeling scolded.

What happened?

Sometimes the way we feel inside doesn’t match the way we communicate.

Especially when strong feelings like stress, urgency and frustration are involved.

You might be experiencing an emotional blind spot.

Which happens more often than most leaders realize.

🟡 Your message may be clear in your mind.
🔴 But the way you are delivering it means it isn’t landing.

Want to know how to close that gap?

One tool is to practice emotional self-checks before and after high-stakes conversations.

Ask yourself two questions:
What am I feeling?
How is it shaping my tone, pace, posture, and clarity?

This webinar is for you.

Memorial Day. The first long weekend in our calendar that signifies the beginning of summer.

What we often forget is that it should be experienced as a quiet pause.

Today, we remember the men and women who have given their lives in the service of their country. To defend our democracy.

Their names might not have made it into the headlines. But their acts of bravery have had very real consequences, like keeping us safe.

Remembering the men and women who have died for our country makes me think about what really matters.

For me, that’s family, friends, relationships with people.

If there’s anything today reminds us of, it’s this:
Life is short.

The conversations you’ve been avoiding.

The appreciation you haven’t expressed.

The words that feel uncomfortable, but honest.

Say them.

You don’t have to say them perfectly. You don’t have to rehearse.
But say them.

Today is about remembering those who have gone bravely before.
It’s also a quiet nudge toward being present.

And using your voice to touch lives while you still can.
