Over time, lint and dust can build up in your bathroom exhaust fan, causing the motor to overheat and potentially start a fire. Itโ€™s important to follow these safety tips, and if you suspect a fire, get out, stay out, and call 9-1-1 immediately.

-Keep it clean: Dust and lint can build up inside the fan creating a fire hazard.

-Turn it off when you leave: Donโ€™t leave an exhaust fan unattended and running for long periods of time.

-Watch for warning signs: Unusual noises, vibrations, burning smells, and slow running fans.

-Donโ€™t ignore an overheating fan: If the fan feels unusually hot or you notice a burning smell, turn it off and have it inspected by a certified electrician.

-Replace damaged fans: Cracked covers, exposed wiring, or damaged components should be addressed promptly.

-Never cover the fan: Blocking the exhaust can restrict airflow and cause the motor to overheat.

-Have older fans inspected: If your exhaust fan is old, noisy, or frequently needs repairs, consider replacing it with a newer, properly rated model.

One of the best parts of being a firefighter is connecting with our community! Engine 6 visited the first graders and kindergarteners at Daytona Beach Christian Academy today!

Students learned about fire safety, a firefighterโ€™s gear, and what we keep on our fire engines.

Weโ€™d like to thank Daytona Beach Christian Academy for having us! We had a great time connecting with these future firefighters!

๐ŸŒง๏ธ FLOODED ROADS? TURN AROUND.

Heavy rain can cause roadways to flood quickly, and what looks like a few inches of standing water can be much deeper than it appears.

๐Ÿš— Weโ€™re seeing drivers damage their vehicles by attempting to drive through flooded roadways.

Please:
๐Ÿšซ Donโ€™t drive through standing or moving water.
โ†ฉ๏ธ Turn around and find another route.
โš ๏ธ Never assume you can make it through just because another vehicle did.
๐Ÿ›‘ If barricades are in place, do not drive around them.

Your vehicle can be replaced. Your safety canโ€™t.
