Today is Colorado Gives Day — but instead of telling you that time is running out, I want to tell you something different.
At Blue Star, we see a story inside every discarded computer, every tangled cord, every retired printer. Most people call it e-waste. We call it potential.
Over the past few weeks, our team has been refurbishing laptops to gift to students at the Sun Valley Youth Center—our neighbors just down the street. And, we’ll celebrate Colorado Gives Day in community with a pizza party with the kids and our friends at Denver Rotary. It’s one of the most meaningful parts of our year: our employees using their skills to give back to local youth, closing the technology gap and strengthening our community in a very real way. Your support makes moments like this possible.
When you give to Blue Star, you’re fueling the work that makes stories like these possible:
*Meaningful jobs for people with disabilities
*Responsible recycling that keeps toxic materials out of Colorado landfills
*Refurbished technology that extends the life of valuable equipment
A core part of this work is our IT Asset Disposition (ITAD) program, where businesses trust us to securely wipe, refurbish, or recycle their retired electronics. ITAD not only protects data and the environment—it creates stable, fulfilling employment for our workforce and supplies the refurbished devices we return to the community
If you choose to give today, your donation reaches far beyond e-waste.
You’re helping build a Colorado where sustainability, inclusion, and dignity move together—and where everyone gets the chance to contribute their talent.
Your gift creates opportunity. Your gift protects the planet. Your gift matters.
It’s one of the most heartwarming parts of our work: Blue Star employees giving back to young people in our community through the power of technology and inclusion. Your support makes moments like this possible.
When you donate to Blue Star, here’s what actually happens:
A device that might have ended up in a landfill instead becomes a tool for creating meaningful jobs for people with disabilities.
Toxic materials are kept out of Colorado soil and water, protecting the communities we all share.
A young adult or adult with autism or another disability steps into a workplace where they are not just “accommodated” — they are valued, respected, and able to build real financial independence.
If you choose to give today, you’re not just donating.
You’re helping transform the way Colorado thinks about employment, environmental responsibility, and what’s possible when we build systems that include everyone.

The Blue Star Recyclers Team
Blue Star Recyclers exists to create meaningful jobs for people with autism and other disabilities by ethically recycling electronics. Earned income covers more than 90% of our expenses, but we rely on fundraising to help create more jobs.
