Before we forget everything, here's a quick blog post with some high-level thoughts about working on our first PEMB.

At our Colorado architecture firm, we’re weeks away from completing our first Pre-Engineered Metal Building — and it feels like exactly the right moment to document what we learned. This proj…

The story of this commercial adaptive reuse project is on our blog right now. Saving portions of this building helped reduce our carbon footprint by avoiding the demolition and removal of the existing foundation and floor slab, and also the intense process of pouring all new slab for the floor. Resulting in very dramatic makeover.

Adding some warmth to our modern designs through the use of .official siding and these Karl Foster grasses that pick up on the same wood tones. Louisville house, new build, as seen in magazine.

Photorealistic renderings are just a standard part of our process.

With 3d modeling, accurate lighting and materials, we make sure clients know what they are getting. This Denver modern new build was a blank slate and so much fun to go nuts with. This room took multiple rounds of back and forth with our client who has great taste, which always tends to create a great result.

This one is made from Revit + Lumion v25 (no gate-keeping here)

Have you seen this project on our website? It's a heavy renovation of a midcentury gem of house in Golden. The house is tiny, and pretty hard to use in today's standards, but we wanted the addition to modernize and update while preserving the original design intent. We cannot wait for this one to get started.

Mountain projects are our favorite. Using a siding that is fire-resistant like and metal standing seam roof will help provide a little peace of mind. Eliminating gutters and soffit vents is also a huge way to mitigate risk. Risk management can be beautiful.

There’s a version of home that doesn’t ask you to choose between wild and warm. Between raw landscape and real living.

This is it.

Black steel meets floor-to-ceiling glass. A roofline that echoes the peaks behind it. Lavender fields where the lawn used to be. And inside — enough room for everyone to gather, and enough quiet for each of you to breathe.

This is the mountain house reimagined for the modern family. No fuss. No excess. Just structure that works as hard as you do, and beauty that does the rest.

Big enough for the whole crew. Simple enough to feel like peace.

Three steps. One simple form.
01 — Property line: defines the legal boundary of the site
02 — Setbacks: the required distances from each edge, pulling inward
03 — Form: what emerges from what's left
Most people see a finished building and think the shape was a creative decision. It was — but the site made it first. Our job is to read those constraints and resist the urge to fight them.
Simplicity isn't a reduction. It's a discipline.

A quiet mountain home, designed to sit gently in the landscape.

Simple forms. Durable materials. Spaces that open to the trees and light. Nothing flashy—just thoughtful design built to handle the climate and make the most of the view.

If you’re considering a custom home in the mountains, start with the land. The right design will follow.
