Small businesses help culture stay visible.

This week, we want to give some love to Birdy Magazine; an independent Denver publication that has spent years making space for artists, writers, musicians, designers, and creative voices across the city.

Birdy is more than a magazine. It’s a platform, a creative archive, and a reminder that local culture needs people willing to document it, celebrate it, and keep putting it in front of the community.

Like many independent creative businesses, Birdy is powered by community support. They recently launched a GoFundMe to help keep that work going, and we’d encourage anyone who values independent media and local culture to support if they’re able.

Follow them. Pick up an issue. Share their work. Advertise with them. Tell someone who should know about them.

Supporting small businesses means supporting the people who help keep culture alive.

Keep print undead. https://gofund.me/b63e3823b

Behind so many meaningful gatherings, there’s a small business carrying more than people see.

CoCreate is one of them, and much of our work exists to support others: small businesses, creative organizations, venues, artists, nonprofits, and community partners building something meaningful with limited resources and a lot of heart.

We know how much small businesses carry.

They create gathering places.

They hire local talent.

They sponsor the show, host the fundraiser, print the magazine, book the room, feed the volunteers, and keep culture moving.

To us, small businesses are part of the infrastructure of connection. When they thrive, communities have more places to belong, collaborate, and grow.

During National Small Business Week, we’re celebrating the small businesses and creative partners helping build a more connected cultural economy.

We’ve been thinking a lot about connection lately. Not just the act of meeting people, but the kind that actually builds momentum over time.

Since January, we’ve spent more time around CreativeMornings/Denver, in orbit with Analog Salon Denver and Birdy. What started as a few shared moments has grown into something that feels natural, where each experience enhances the other.

What’s interesting is how different these spaces are. CreativeMornings happens in the morning, centered around ideas and conversation, while Analog Salon lives at night, rooted in music and storytelling. Different formats, different energy, but grounded in the same intention.

But instead of competing, they’ve started to reinforce each other. What begins in one room carries into the next, and over time, that creates something stronger than any single event could on its own.

At CoCreate, we focus on creating the conditions for that kind of alignment to grow, not just between individuals but between organizations.

Because when it’s real, it builds momentum, opens doors, and turns relationships into opportunity.

Connection is currency.

Analog Salon #9 is taking shape, and Denver’s own DJ, producer, and composer Neon Brown will be setting the tone. He opens the night during our social mixer, then returns to help us unwind. 🎶🌀 Join us on February 5th at The Posner Center, where music and storytelling meet.

Come listen with us. Tickets in comments.

We often think of sound as something we hear. But last Analog Salon was a reminder that it shapes far more than that. It builds atmosphere, stirs memory, and creates connection.

At Analog Salon, we were invited into a deeper kind of listening.
A sold-out room. A community fully present. Music given the space it deserves.

Ben Coleman guided us through a set that moved from the uncanny to the expansive, from minimalism to groove, from curiosity to pure joy.

Throughout the night, one thing became clear: music is not just something we consume. It is something we experience together.

To everyone who showed up, thank you. You are what makes this community what it is.

Music is not just something we consume. It is something we experience together. It connects us, builds community, and offers endless ways to imagine and reimagine the world.

That’s the idea behind Analog Salon.

A chance to slow down, let a track play all the way through, and sit with it in a room full of people doing the same.

On May 7, we gather again with Maria Elena Buszek, bringing a perspective shaped by art, culture, and sound. We’ll also have DIY Button-Making and Postcard Collage stations from Birdy Magazine.

BOGO tickets are available through April 10.

Denver Westword hit the nail on the head with this one.
Prismajic is part of the fabric here.
Spaces like this don’t just fade out. They find their next form.

When the experimental art space Prismajic lost its lease earlier this year, it was a blow to the local creative scene. Having inspired Denverites in two different locations since its visionary inception in 2018, this wouldn’t be the first move that Prismajic has successfully made. Here’s hoping ...
