Love getting a booch refill 🥰 🥰 we are honestly blown away by hedge apple kombucha’s latest special release flavor: watermelon basil! Crack one open and it’ll smell like a basil plant and watermelon materialized in front of ya. Maybe our favorite flavor yet, but it’s hard to keep track—they really have so many bangers!

Hey! Ramona Muse Lambert’s art show “Potato Chip I Love You” opens tomorrow in our gallery space…and we’re so excited for you to see. We just love her. The show will be on view from October 10 through November 7. Ramona will be on site for a closing reception on the final day from 11-1. All the work is for sale so here is your chance to own a piece of Mona’s work for your home!

This art show is an ode to the snacks and treats that keep us going. A plain potato chip has never hurt my stomach, and so much has. I trust a salty circle of potato with my day. And sometimes you just have to hide in the pantry and eat treats, less sharing. For the last year plus I have been sober, an accident of sorts. One of the more interesting parts beyond experiencing life in it’s real raw form all day every day, is that a treat is that much more of a treat.

Born in rural Iowa, and now residing in Des Moines, Ramona Muse Lambert creates art in a variety of mediums including illustration, painting, textile, and multimedia. Since receiving her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Iowa State University, she has cultivated art experiences for children and adults at various schools, museums, and workspaces across the state. She is the organizer of Miniland at Hinterland, and has been with the festival since the beginning. Ramona believes that art should be an inclusive experience, and often injects humor and playfulness into her work, in an attempt to make it accessible and enjoyable for people of all ages and backgrounds.

Ramona is the lead of the musical act Ramona and the Sometimes, as well as a long time member of national act Leslie and the Lys. Working as a freelancer, she has illustrated work for Hinterland, Exile, J. Crew, Zanzibar’s, Pavement, and more. She also sells her art merchandise to unique gift boutiques around the country. She drew the window here at Wake Up Iowa! Ramona makes art, music, and raises three sons with her wonderful husband Derek Muse Lambert, their most recent and notable project being the children’s band Derry & the Dirty Dishes.

We opened the shop two years ago today and got married five years ago today. Opening on our third wedding anniversary just happened to be the absolute soonest Wednesday we were legally allowed to open (at that point we were open wed-sat). Pix 3-8 from little moments leading up to and just opening.

Really, we just want to say thank you for being there for us and for believing in our wild little dream to uproot our life and basically drop a penny into a wishing well. The coffee shop game is a funny one and we are proud to walk to the beat of our own drum-set!

We know it’s a lot more than luck that got us here. In a windy world it feels very grounding to know that with every fiber of our being it wouldn’t have been possible without the persistent, steadying force of support and grace that our community has shown us. Carving out this little corner in lower beaver for us and you all has filled us with the joy we only dreamed of late at night nearly three years ago when this whole idea was first hatched. Anyway there’s so much more than could be said.

We won (good job jarrett) the pumpkin pikachu at Dollywood on our honeymoon. It’s been this random halloween decoration we never knew we needed for our life together.

And we are really really really big time hoping for Rob Sand as Iowa’s next Governor.

What better way to kick off the month of October than to wake up before the alarm with one goal: finally throw together the shop’s first housemade batch of golden milk paste? for ✨ GOLDEN MILK ✨ aka Turmeric Latte.

We have offered golden milk for awhile, using a purchased concentrate. Really excited to now have our own house-made version that is much more true to the spirit of golden milk.

Lightly sweetened with real maple syrup, and with the addition of coconut oil for a greater turmeric absorption! It’s spicy and warm and I just love it.

The orange hue compliments the shop decor like a champ. More importantly, golden milk is the perfect sipper to support you with its anti inflammatory effects, among other potentially healing properties like immune and digestive support. Non caffeinated.

Ingredients in paste: ground turmeric, ginger, cinnamon, ground ginger, ground black pepper, maple syrup, coconut oil. With your choice of steamed milk.

Honey vanilla custard made in-house is still on our menu, kids! made by Jarrett with organic eggs and locally harvested honey.

Great for everyone to enjoy no matter what temperature it is or how much precipitation is or isn’t accumulating. Our custard is also perfect to devour with a a shot of espresso poured over top as an affogato.
