Ever downloaded a photo to use for your website or for social media from one of those "free" stock photo sites?

Turns out, a lot of them aren't free and clear to use😳

Which opens you up to a world of hurt, should you get contacted by a lawyer for copyright infringement. 😬🤦‍♀️

Sometimes it's a simple "cease and desist" letter, but I've heard horror stories of "pay up or else" scenarios.

It's a tricky subject, and no one seems to have clear answers on how to follow the rules. But the best bet is to simply use your own photo's or purchase them form somewhere like Deposit Photos.

If that's not an option for you, this is by far the best article I've come across on giving guidance about how to follow the rules so you don't put yourself or your business at risk.

With sites like Unsplash, Pexels, and Pixabay around, it is today easier than ever to find free stock photos. But, is it really as safe as you think it is to use those beautiful free assets?
