This picture carries so much significance for me:

1️⃣ The five people standing with me represent several of the 13 modern-day countries reflected in my ancestry—including Congo, Nigeria, Ghana and Germany.

2️⃣ We are standing on the exact historic spot where then–Prime Minister Dr. Kwame Nkrumah declared Ghana’s independence from British colonial rule in 1957. His statue marks that spot, and his mausoleum stands directly behind us. He later became Ghana’s first president in 1960.

3️⃣ Ghana’s independence helped energize liberation movements across Africa. Three years later, Nigeria gained its independence on October 1, 1960.

Happy Independence Day to my Nigerian sisters and brothers! I’m mostly Nigerian, so today holds special meaning for me. 💚🤍💚

We spent Hump Day busting our hump during an enjoyable city tour of Accra, Ghana. There was so much history, including American Dr. W.E.B. Dubois starting the Pan African movement and Dr. Kwame Nkrumah leading Ghana into independence from Great Britain. Both men had extraordinary achievements and influence. I love Dr Kwame's quote: "Forward Ever, Backward Never" and really enjoyed walking through the fountains and visiting his mausoleum in his memorial park.

I also enjoyed the food, a huge street market with probably a thousand vendors and other historical sites.

I had $30,000 in credit card debt with interest rates as high as 16.9% and 28.9%. 😳

Instead of continuing to pay those high rates, I accessed money from the cash value of my life insurance policy and paid the credit cards OFF.

The result? My credit utilization dropped and my credit score skyrocketed. 📈

Now, instead of owing the credit card companies, I’m repaying a loan against an asset I already owned.

Sometimes building wealth isn’t about making more money. It’s about knowing what to do with the money and assets you already have. 💰

Today marks 21 years since I became licensed in the financial industry! 💙

There’s something beautifully full-circle about celebrating 21 years in this profession. I was only 21 years old when I began asking how to manage money properly and build a better future for my family.

Happy 33rd birthday to my firstborn son 💙

When he was only 9 years old, I bought him a Robert Kiyosaki book and started teaching him about stocks. Recently, he thanked me and asked why I thought a 9-year-old would be interested in investing. 😂

I told him I saw a little boy determined to learn, break out of poverty and become a boss. I wanted to support him—and I hoped we could break out together.

And we did! 🙌🏽

Darian and I built Teneshia LaFayé together, helping thousands of people and earning millions through the business we created. While I continued teaching financial literacy, he invested his share of what we built.

Today, my son is almost a millionaire in stocks and the creator of LazyInvestor.ai -- a stock screener designed to help others find quality value stocks trading at a discount.

That 9-year-old was listening after all! I thought I was teaching the kid that I had my senior year of high school about money, but we were really building a legacy together.
