Wildland Lapidary

Wildland Lapidary A rockhound at home on the range and a flintknapper at home in the mountains of Idaho come together to share their love of the outdoors and rocks.

Welcome to our hobby! We are Tom and Nicole Strong, of Dubois, Idaho. Tom is a flintknapper, who offers a wide range of obsidian and other stone creations, along with flintknapping tools for those also interested in the hobby. Nicole specializes in wire-wrapped and hand-cut cabochons, and started in lapidary with stone carving. The name "Wildland Lapidary" originally comes from Nicole's field of w

ork, rangeland management, combined with our rockhounding and lapidary hobbies into one name. You'll also see that several of her pieces, mainly the carvings, show the influence that working and playing out on the range has on her work. Tom's outdoorsman background continues this theme in the wide range of flintknapped items he has to offer.
