Listen.
The sacred space that is amplified, carefully crafted, and created in Williamsburg by the team at the Lemon Project is one to be celebrated, duplicated, and reveled! To be in community grounded in Black excellence, authenticity, empowerment, intellect, love and respect is something I treasure - deeply. It’s a meeting of the minds that I look forward to engaging with, annually! And everyone was so beautiful!
This year’s theme was: “United We Stand: Fortifying Black Communities through Courage, Dignity, and Joy, and the 16th Annual Symposium reflected just that! It never misses.
I had the opportunity to opportunity to serve on Panel 15: Black Women’s Lives and Histories, along with three phenomenal women! (I served as a panelist in the past, as well as a moderator; I was delighted to return to a panel this year). My presentation, “Champion for Education Equity: Yvonne Bond Miller’s Legislative Legacy and the Path to Post-Massive Resistance” was well received and amplified her life, legacy and how her lived experiences influenced her legislation. I hope everyone in the room and those joining virtually left feeling motivated to:
•Be brave enough to be the “conscience” in the room.
•Be a fearless protector of the Ballot!
•Be a source of Educational Reconciliation!
I hope everyone has the courage to !
