Veterans for Public Lands fights to keep public land open and accessible for veterans.

That fight gets carried forward in rooms like the VIP Lunch at the Veteran Outdoor Recreation Summit. Industry leaders, program directors, and veterans at the same table, working the same problem.

NPCA raised their hand first.

The National Parks Conservation Association just became our first Sponsor a Squad partner for the Veteran Outdoor Recreation Summit. Ten seats, fully funded, sitting open in Park City this October.

Now we need the ten.

If you’re a veteran and you’ve been telling yourself “maybe next year” this is next year. Gear’s not required. Experience isn’t required. A weekend and a yes is required.

As Executive Director of the Veterans Outdoor Advocacy Group, Ben helped shape the Veterans Outdoor Rehabilitation Act, in front of the Senate right now. His whole mission is policy that gets veterans onto trails, into rivers, and back outside.

October 2, he opens the room. Leadership, lived experience, and access most people spend years trying to get.

We’ve had people ask us who this room was actually built for. Here’s who we created this room for.

The Boots belong here. Whether you’re close enough to drive or ready to fly in, you don’t need gear. You don’t need a group. You don’t need to already be an outdoors person. You need a weekend, however you get here.

The Builders belong here. Industry leaders, org directors, program creators, every corner of this space in one place for the first time. Federal task force recommendations just went to Congress. The Veterans Outdoor Rehabilitation Act is in front of the Senate right now. The relationships built this year are the ones everyone else needs an introduction into next year.

One veteran who went through this course said something that stuck with us: after their service ended, staying connected to a team wasn’t optional, it was the thing keeping them steady. Six days in Pisgah National Forest gave that back to them.

Backpack in. Navigate. Camp. Then rock climb and rappel as a team. One stretch solo to set your own pace. Back with the crew to finish it.

This is what real work in outdoor recreation looks like.

We’ve been putting in the work behind the scenes to make the Veterans Outdoor Recreation Summit experience even better; starting with the website.

Navigating the summit should feel as seamless as the experience itself. That’s why we’ve updated the pages to make it easier to explore the agenda, understand what to expect, and quickly find everything from lodging and transportation to registration.

This year’s summit is more than just a one-day event; it’s a 3-day experience in Park City, UT (Oct 1–3):
• Day 1: Bonfire kickoff
• Day 2: Full summit programming + networking + exhibitor expo
• Day 3: Outdoor activity day (hiking, biking, yoga, climbing + more)
