R&R is cleared to launch 🚀

Over the past few months, I’ve had the amazing opportunity to participate in the inaugural Launch Proof Accelerator with Knox St. Studios.

R&R Consulting was one of 10 Durham businesses invited to pitch — and one of five selected to continue through the full 12-session program.

Launch Proof is run in partnership with the City of Durham’s Office of Workforce Development as part of a larger effort to build a stronger small-business community across the city. And I’m grateful R&R got to be part of its first cohort.

If you know me, you know how much rest and results (R&R) mean to me. I’ve built a business centered on these principles from the ground up, and over the last two years, every client, project, lesson, and opportunity has helped shape where we are today.

Launch Proof gave me the space to step back and really look at all of it.

What’s working.

Where there’s room to grow.

And what’s possible for R&R from here.

The experience challenged me, affirmed some things, made me rethink others, and left me even more excited about the future.

And now, we get to celebrate. 🎉

On October 2 from 6–8 PM at American Underground, I’ll join my fellow founders for Cleared to Launch: A Launch Proof Accelerator Graduation. We’ll share our businesses and the journeys that have shaped them.

When I entered the workforce, there were so many things I was simply expected to already know how to do.

Team collaboration? That was fine. The K-12 system practically trains you for that through endless group projects and presentations.

But inbox management? No one taught me that skill.

When I stepped into my first fundraising role, I quickly realized that staying on top of my email inbox wasn’t optional. Missing one message could mean missing a grant opportunity, a deadline, or an important update from leadership. My inbox went from “just another app” to mission control overnight.

So I started researching, testing systems, and building habits that actually helped me stay organized without feeling overwhelmed. Over time, those practices transformed the way I worked.

At R&R Consulting, rest isn’t just permitted, it’s part of our recipe for success.

Last week, my version of rest looked like sunshine, fresh air, and a slow wander through the stalls at the Durham Black Farmers Market.

I had the chance to support North Carolina–based Black businesses and nonprofits while reconnecting with the vibrant ecosystem right here in my hometown. There’s something grounding about seeing neighbors build, grow, and thrive while you eat some fried shrimp and let the sun do its gentle work.

I’ve read that sentence more times than I should admit this week… because one of my clients just advanced in the Melinda French Gates WIN Challenge for a chance at up to $5M in funding. 💫
