Last week, our field staff participated in a 36-hour Wetland Delineation Training led by Adam Gailey of Gailey Environmental, LLC. This certificate-bearing course is pre-approved as qualifying educational credit toward Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS) certification through the Society of Wetland Scientists and included both classroom instruction and hands-on field training.

Over four days, our team strengthened their expertise in wetland hydrology, hydric soils, and wetland vegetation—the three key parameters used to identify and delineate wetland resources under regulatory criteria. As State and Federal regulations continue to evolve, ongoing professional development like this helps ensure our staff remain equipped to navigate complex field conditions & regulatory uncertainty, while continuing to provide the highest level of service to our clients.

Thank you to Gailey Environmental for an informative and valuable training experience. We appreciate the opportunity to continue expanding our knowledge and expertise in wetland science!

Last week, our Public Education & Outreach Coordinator, Chelsea Rockcastle, had the pleasure of connecting with students at The Norman Howard School as part of their on-going Future Friday series.

Following strong student interest in careers in natural resources, Chelsea presented to approximately 50 high school students, highlighting DIEHLUX’s services, diverse career pathways in conservation, and her own academic and professional journey in the field. The session sparked thoughtful questions and engaging discussion from students.

We’re grateful to The Norman Howard School for the opportunity to connect, share insights, and inspire the next generation of potential natural resource professionals.

To protect the privacy of students, no pictures were taken during the presentation. Please enjoy these photos from our team in the field! 🙂

This week our Ecological Services team attended the 2026 New York State Wetlands Forum alongside over 300 other professionals. We look forward to this event every year, as it is a chance to catch up with past colleagues, learn about many new and on going conservation initiatives around the state, network, and receive regulatory updates from both state and federal agencies. Thank you to all of the organizers for putting this on year after year, and also to the presenters for keeping us informed!

While Mother Nature continues to try and make up her mind in NY, we’re down south helping protect more wetlands! DIEHLUX provides freshwater and tidal wetland delineation, permitting, and compensatory mitigation support across the US to help avoid, minimize, and mitigate the loss of wetlands and other aquatic resources impacted by development.

DIEHLUX was asked to speak at the Geographic Information Sharing Special Interest Group (GIS/SIG) Rochester – Genesee Finger Lakes Region 2025 Conference on the NYSDEC Article 24 Freshwater Wetland Regulation updates. Our Ecological Project Manager, Sean McGinn, and Environmental Scientist II, Gillian Smith, did a fantastic job explaining the updates and the implications on proposed, existing, and pending land development projects.

GIS/SIG provides a professional forum in the Rochester – Genesee Finger Lakes region for Geographical Information Systems (GIS) technology education, data sharing, communication and networking with other local, state and national users, dissemination of information about trends and policies related to GIS, and technology advancement. A special thank you to their staff for the invitation and hospitality!
