Instead of thinking about what you can't do... Think about all the things you CAN do... And act on them... You don't become great by doing a lot.. You become great by doing few... And consistently being great at those few things every single day!!!

When you wake up in the morning ask yourself this question:
I am giving enough to get where I want to be?

If the answer is no, then it is time to get motivated and grind.

If the answer yes, then you need to reflect on what you're doing because enough is never good enough!!!

I woke this morning with an odd feeling of remembering what I felt my last football game.
I wondered if I had given everything I had to help my team succeed.
Did I do everything I could to help my teammates do their best on the field?
Did I prepare myself to the best of my ability to perform at a high level?
I woke up remembering my catch at the end of the first half.
And then I remembered that was my last game of my high school career.
No district championship. No playoffs. It was all over.
I remember feeling like I (because I take things personally) had let down the class before me that had went deep into the playoffs.
I remember feeling like because we didn't make it that we changed the culture of a winning program(class of '04 went to playoffs the following year)
The class of '02 had some of the greatest athletes in the state of Texas!!! Michael Jordan Michael Hisatake Jerome Jordan Jr. Maurice AntlilBrother Lane Joey Ramos Jr Scott Marvin Williams Roderick Russell Jared Millsap Sean Walden B-Roy Taylor Tyrail Cole Lewis Green Tauto Hisatake - to name a few.
I witnessed some of the best athletes in the state. And the crazy thing is that I watched these guys in admiration!! Gaining a respect for winners and their attitude!!
Watching them practice like it was a game every single time!!
Scout team offense was one of the best experiences for me because I remember certain athletes coming at you like you were really an opponent. It wasn't that they didn't like you or just wanted to punish JV. They knew they had a job to do!!!
It was because they had a fire in their eyes that burned for success!!!
We had a great team('03) Jason Jones Darnell Johnson Travis Davis Columbus Givens III Juaquin Iglesias Michael George K.t. Triplett Sam Wright Timothy Troupe Charles Rice Marcus Mclendon JoJo Dempsey Ian Williams Andre' DeAngelo Gumbs Que Sterling Desmond Goins Nick Breezy Marcus Rutherford to name a few...yet, we were unable to succeed!! Is it because we weren't good as a team?
Is it because we thought we were better than what we were?
Were we out-coached?
Thinking back, I honestly believe it was because we didn't follow our assignments to perfection!!
There will be times when the other team is able to counter a great play, but great athletes improvise to make plays!!!
One play doesn't determine a season. One play doesn't determine the outcome of a game.
One play executed one after another up until the end of the game determines the outcome of a game and season.
The goal is to execute more plays to perfection than the other team!!
Mental toughness plays a huge factor in the journey to execute to perfection!!
When you're tired will you still execute to perfection??
When one play isn't executed as well as another play will you step up and execute for the rest of the game.
One play doesn't determine a game, but if you you let multiple plays go on without ex*****on than that is what determines a game!

Today is the day where you have to reflect on what you have done for the season.
Today you begin a new journey that can change the way your future plays out!!
How will you begin your new season(Playoffs)?
Will you execute to perfection with mental toughness or will you lay down and be content with how far you made you already made it?
That choice is up to you!!!

Good luck in the 2016 Texas UIL Playoffs!!! Create a winning Culture!!!
