Wasp and hornet nests can grow surprisingly large during the summer months, and attempting to remove them yourself can be dangerous. A single disturbed colony may contain hundreds or even thousands of stinging insects, and they can become extremely aggressive when they feel threatened.

It’s also important to know that nests are not always the familiar hanging paper nests you see under eaves or in trees. Wasps and yellowjackets commonly build nests underground, inside electrical boxes, wall voids, siding, attics, crawl spaces, sheds, and other hidden areas around the home.

We always recommend calling a professional when nests become large or are located in difficult or unsafe areas. Disturbing a colony can result in multiple painful stings and, in some cases, severe allergic reactions.

After treatment, we recommend avoiding the area until the following day. Many worker wasps are away from the nest during the day gathering food and may not return until evening. For this reason, it can take up to 24 hours for the entire colony to be eliminated.

At Eradipest, we guarantee our wasp and hornet treatments and are committed to helping protect your family and your home all season long.

Did you know flies can carry bacteria that impact your business and reputation?

Our fly control programs are designed for high-standard environments like restaurants and food processing facilities.

We don’t rely on just one method—we use a layered approach:
• Fly lights for continuous capture
• Baits for targeted control
• Dispensers for ongoing prevention

The result? A cleaner, more sanitary space you can feel confident in.

Let us help protect your business.

🐀 What kind of rat is this?

This is a Norway rat (brown rat)—the most common rat we deal with here on the coast.

These rats are:
✔️ Ground dwellers
✔️ Burrow under homes, concrete & crawl spaces
✔️ Attracted to food sources like garbage, pet food & bird seed

In this case, we caught it inside one of our secure bait stations.

How to tell it’s a Norway rat:
• Thick, stocky body
• Brown coarse fur (they can be gray too)
• Tail shorter than its body
• Larger droppings with blunt ends

⚠️ If you’re seeing one… there are usually more nearby.

The good news? With proper placement, monitoring, and treatment—we can get them under control quickly and safely.

We love to support bees. Here's what you can do to help:

Bee-lovers wanted
The Washington Bee Atlas is seeking volunteers to continue to grow the program and document Washington’s native bees and their host plants.

“These discoveries are really just the tip of the iceberg,” Wright said. “Washington is a large state, and it is going to take many people and lots of time to really sample the entire state throughout the seasons. This will establish a baseline for how native bees are doing in our state. If you care about pollinators and pollination, this is an exciting time to join the program, as bees are understudied in Washington. There are lots of opportunities to discover or rediscover bees.”

Volunteers undergo training through OSU’s Master Melittologist Program. The program is similar to the Master Gardener Program, but the focus is on native bees. Because most bees cannot be identified to species from photos, volunteers learn to capture, preserve, and pin museum-quality specimens and document their host plants. They receive all the training and supplies they need to collect and pin the bees.

Those who do not want to collect bees but who are interested in learning more about and supporting native bees can visit WSDA’s native bees webpage and the Washington Native Bee Society.
